Weather: Cloudy and Cool
Gates: Heathens win toss and take 2+4 and Brummies on 1+3 in Heat 1.
Track Conditions: Looks in good nick. Nice and evenly watered without looking wet. An obvious dirt line on the outside too.
SCB Referee: Chris Durno
Heat Results
Heat 01: Clegg, Ellis, Kerby, Harris 3-3 Time: 61.00
Line Up: Ellis, Kirby, Clegg, Harris
Comments: All 4 back. Sensational start by Clegg. Race called back because he left everybody still at the tapes.
Re-Run: Super start by Clegg off gate 4. Ellis pushed hard but never near enough to make a move. Kirby comfortable in 3rd. New Track Record.

Heat 02: Neale, Perks, Wajtknecht, Wilson 1-5 4-8 Time: 63.28
Line Up: Wajtknecht, Wilson, Neale, Perks
Comments: Race Stopped, Zach listed off the start and his bike wiped out Perks. Race was already stopped anyway as referee says Neale jumped the start, but he didn't! Both riders up and fine. All 4 back for the re-run.
So much for meetings running more smoothly. Referee having a crack of ruining the first meeting of the season.
Re-Run: Super start for Neale again. Perks tucked in behind Cracking effort by Wajtknecht. Arguably the quickest of the 3 riders but Perks held on by half a length on the line. Wilson tailed off at the back just a little but not embarrassingly.

Heat 03: Williamson, Mogridge, Chapman, Banks 1-5 5-13 Time: 62.50
Line Up: Chapman, Banks, Williamson, Mogridge
Comments: Easy for Williamson up front. Mogridge had to hold on around the outside on lap 1 as Chapman challenged. Eased clear after that. Banks off the pace but rode smooth enough.

Heat 04: Perks, Perry, Greaves, Wilson 2-4 7-17 Time: 62.25
Line Up: Perry, Wilson, Greaves, Perks
Comments: Heathens sharp from the gate again. Perks led backstraight. Greaves let him go in first and lost a little momentum. Perry got wound up and after a couple of laps got around and clear of Greaves. Perks from gone and looking impressive.

Heat 05: Clegg, Chapman, Harris, Banks 2-4 9-21 Time: 62.22
Line Up: Chapman, Banks, Clegg, Harris
Comments: Clegg by a mile. Banks rides good first turn to be 2nd off the turn but was tentative going into turn 3 lap 1 and Harris steamed into full throttle to come off Gate 4 and well clear in 3rd. Harris then challenged well and make sure Chapman had a tough battle holding on to 2nd

Heat 06: Neale, Greaves, Kirby, Ellis - Fell / Remounted 1-5 10-26 Time: 62.81
Line Up: Ellis - Tactical Ride, Kirby, Greaves, Neale
Comments: Ellis on a tactical ride.
Neale flew from the start to lead into turn 1. Greaves off gate two just got thee half a wheel before Ellis and clamped him hard. Ellis tried to barge Greaves out the way but Greaves stood his ground. Ellis fell off but got up to continue. Fair play. Both lads did well to avoid it becoming a nasty crash.

Heat 07: Perry, Williamson, Mogridge, Wajtknecht 3-3 13-29 Time: 62.38
Line Up: Perry, Wajtknecht, Williamson, Mogridge
Comments: Two for the price of one. Williamson made the start but it was a decent one by Perry. He stuck it in the dirt and gave it a handful on turns 3 and 4 squeezed past to lead into lap two. At the back Wajtknecht reeled Mogridge in and was charging hard inside him on the last lap. Good race.

Heat 08: Perks, Wilson, Kirby, Harris 3-3 16-32 Time: 61.56
Line Up: Kirby, Wilson, Harris, Perks
Comments: Perks by the proverbial just half second off Clegg's track record. Very solid and steady ride by the Brummies duo. That'll do wonders for Wilson's confidence I'd imagine. Harris pushed hard but couldn't get close enough to make any kind of move.

Heat 09: Greaves, Chapman, Neale, Banks 2-4 18-36 Time: 63.35
Line Up: Chapman, Banks, Greaves, Neale
Comments: Chapman just away from the start. Greaves got inside him and after the first lap and quarter it's Greaves who levels off in the lead. Neale was on their back wheel going into turn 3 lap 2 but seemed to change his mind from going into Chapman to going outside him and make a mess of it. Nearly hit the fence but fathered it all up. He made up a lot of ground but had a bit too much to do in the remaining laps. Better by Chapman too.

Heat 10: Williamson, Mogridge, Kirby, Ellis - Retired 1-5 19-41 Time: 62.79
Line Up: Ellis, Kirby, Williamson, Mogridge
Comments: Race Stopped, All 4 back fro the re-run. Even break. Ellis off gate 4 the unlucky one who slides out. Maybe winded and just takes a minute to get up. Looks fine now.
Re-Run: Shame a good race was ruined by Ellis' Gremlins. He and Williamson were shoulder to shoulder from the gate all the way to turn 3 at the front. Ellis then pulled up the bike was still running as he crossed the centre green. Kirby on the pace but couldn't make up what he lost from the start.

INTERVAL
Heat 11: Perry, Clegg, Harris, Wajtknecht 3-3 22-44 Time: 62.94
Line Up: Perry, Wajtknecht, Clegg, Harris
Comments: Race Stopped, Clegg and Perry make an even reaction but Clegg apparently jumped it. Clegg excluded for delaying the start and off 15 metres in the re-run.
Re-Run: West an effort by the Cleggmiester, 3rd off turn 2 lap 1 and 2nd as they entered lap 2. He was flying and close with every turn of the wheel. Just fell short by a bike length on the line. Another half lap would have been enough. At the back Wajtknecht again had to work hard from a poor start but was riding hard to get under Harris. Harris held his nerve well.

Heat 12: Williamson, Neale, Chapman, Wilson - Fell / Remounted and Retired 1-5 23-49 Time: 63.68
Line Up: Chapman, Wilson, Williamson, Neale
Comments: Neale rode a good inside line to find enough room to squeeze under Chapman on turns 1 and 2 lap 2. Same turn Wilson at the ball slid off going into turn 1. He jumped straight up and cleared the track.
Sponsored by
Heat 13: Clegg, Greaves, Ellis, Perry 1-5 24-54 Time: 62.41
Line Up: Ellis, Perry, Clegg, Greaves
Comments: What a heat to whet the appetite for the season. Clegg good start and moved out turn 1 to cover Perry who made a good one. Greaves was smart to turn back inside to pass Perry off turn 2. Clegg cleared off up front. Greaves had Perry charging hard on the outside of him and Ellis trying to dive under him through but never put a wheel wrong and clings on.

Heat 14: Perks, Mogridge, Wajtknecht, Banks - Retired 1-5 25-59 Time: 63.28
Line Up: Banks, Wajtknecht, Mogridge, Perks
Comments: Perks missed it but got himself up front and in fresh air going into turn 3 lap 1. Wajtknecht again looking steady and racy when he gets going but is always chasing tonight. Sad to say it was a massive blow up for Banks. Certainly an expensive one!

Heat 15: Clegg, Perry, Williamson, Chapman 2-4 27-63 Time: 62.50
Line-up: Chapman, Perry, Williamson, Clegg
Comments: Brummies off 1+3 and Cradley off 2+4.
Clegg by a postcode up front. He's been fast and stylish. On this form he'll challenge to be the league's number 1. Perry missed the start but went all the way around the outside on turns 1 and 2 to take 2nd from Williamson. Chapman was just squeezed out by Williamson turn 1 and found the pace a tad hot. He's had a decent opening night though and could be important rider for Brummies this season.
