Heat Results
Heat 01: Jones, Morrison, Riordan Ret, Sproule Fx
Comments: Rerun. Nasty incident on the back straight of lap 1, Sproule had got a bit out of sorts exiting turn 2 and kissed the fence. Riordan following close behind was all dressed up and nowhere to go and collected Sproule and both went down. Sproule up and about and nothing more than a bit battered, Riordan copped a hell of a whack on the knee courtesy of some motor bike contact and ended up twisting his knee as well. Could take a little while to heal that one. His bike was in multiple pieces anyway. Both out for the day.
Heat 02: Waters, Winchester, A McDonald, Lawrence
Comments: Another Waters "sneaky quick" effort.
Heat 03: Day, Ringwood, Coyne, Edwards
Comments: Regulation for Day. He continues to impress.
Heat 04: Proctor, Etheridge, J McDonald, Campton.
Comments: Campton looked a little bewildered after finding himself in last place on reaching the back straight so he practised popping wheelies out the back instead and I can't say I'm overly fond of that. Not all that big a crowd to perform for either.
Heat 05: Proctor, Jones, Waters, Edwards
Comments: Proctor aboard what he told me was "about my sixth best bike" still had the goods. For a self proclaimed semi-retired rider Jones looked none too shabby.
Heat 06: Day, Winchester, Morrison, Etheridge
Comments: Day fairly easily. Etheridge seemed to slow, not sure if it was an equipment problem or a slight loss of interest.
Heat 07: A McDonald, Ringwood, J McDonald, Sproule ns
Comments: Both McDonalds can be extremely good nuisances for the top ranked guys and this time Alan did the business and kept Ringwood behind him.
Heat 08: Campton, Coyne, Lawrence ret, Riordan ns
Comments: Normal service resumed for Campton
Heat 09: Campton, Jones, Winchester, Ringwood ret
Comments: There was a hole developing in between turn 3 & 4 and Ringwood found it, got a little out of shape and retired.
Heat 10: Waters, Coyne, Morrison, J McDonald Fx
Comments: McDonald found the same hole that Ringwood hit and he came a cropper. The following riders slowed to go round McDonald and had a bit of a "is this going to be stopped or not?" moment before getting back on the throttle. It wasn't and Waters won by a lot.
Heat 11: Etheridge, Edwards, Lawrence, Sproule ns
Comments: The hole saw active duty again and both Etheridge and Edwards flirted with it. First Edwards got by Etheridge after Etheridge got a bit untidy and on the last lap it was the other way round with Etheridge getting to the line first to snatch the win by inches
Heat 12: Day, A McDonald, Proctor, Riordan ns
Comments: I'm watching and thinking Day is far better than I originally thought. Proctor seemed to be lacking a bit of grunt from his steed.
Heat 13: Jones, A McDonald, Etheridge, Coyne
Comments: Jones was going fast without looking like he was going fast (if that makes sense). Uneventful
Heat 14: Ringwood, Proctor, Morrison, Lawrence
Comments: Ringwood decided the time for letting points slip away was over in case he missed the finals and he duly annexed the maximum available points in the heat. I would have loved to have seen Proctor on a better bike.
Heat 15: Campton, Day, Waters, Sproule ns
Comments: Quality line up and a quality race. Campton just too strong in the end
Heat 16: J McDonald, Edwards, Winchester Fx, Riordan ns
Winchesters turn to get into a spot of bother in turn 4 and he clattered in to the start / finish straight fence with a hell of a thump. Lucky it was largely side on and not front on. Race rerun and not much happened other than McDonald won.
Heat 17: Day, J McDonald, Jones, Lawrence.
Comments: Close to finals time and no silly stuff. Day in a canter.
Heat 18: Campton A McDonald, Edwards, Morrison
Comments: Campton yet again excellent. Finished the meeting strongly both here and at Undera the day before
Heat 19: Proctor, Winchester, Coyne, Sproule ns
Comments:
Heat 20: Waters, Ringwood, Etheridge, Riordan ns
Comments: A belter. No beg pardons, both Waters and Ringwood wanted the win. Nothing nasty about it, just good entertaining and fair racing. Waters held on well.
B Final: Waters, Jones, A McDonald Fx, Ringwood Fx,
Comments: Rerun x 3. The first time McDonald hit a rut in turn 1 and took Jones bike out from under him and both ended up on the deck. All 4 back and fair enough too. Next outing Ringwood went very hot into turn 3 and ended up in the fence with a big thump that knocked the stuffing out of him. It may have been a chain that gave way, it looked too weird a line to be pilot error. It was lap three and Waters was well away and I would have been tempted to declare it. Dusk was fast approaching and we had no lights, (and it was cold and about 90% of the crowd had taken the kids home for tea anyway) but back we came for another rerun. Third time around McDonald also slid into the turn 3 fence and just about hit the divot in the fence that Ringwood had made five minutes earlier. Waters was away out in front again, he must have been wondering what he had to do. Thankfully the fourth time of asking was boring and Waters finally got what he deserved.
A Final: Campton, Waters, Proctor, Day Fx
Comments: Another rerun !! The first effort saw Waters in the lead from the gate but with Campton stalking and then striking to take the lead. Proctor (inside) and Day were arguing over third and going into turn three Day came off. One of those horrible decisions for the referee, furthest part of the track from the ref's box, side on to the incident and the light was getting gloomy. The decision could have gone either way but Day was the unlucky one. I did have some sympathy for him but the referee wasn't giving any airtime to Day's complaints. Back we came and the start was the same again, Waters from Campton but Campton "nearby and closing". Campton did the business and got by Waters again and sailed away for the win. Two wins for the weekend, well done that man !!
