Heat Results
Heat 01: Morris, Wilson, R Andrews, Tedham - Fell, Remounted, Excluded 4-2 55.6
Line Up: Morris, R Andrews, Wilson, Tedham
Comments: Tedham fell bends 3 & 4 lap 1, remounted than pulled up onto the centre green as was not far from being lapped. Morris all the way for the win. Well clear. R Andrews kept Wilson honest for 4 laps. Encouraging start from R Andrews. We need his points in the middle order.

Heat 02: B Andrews, Basford, Hay, Burnett 5-1 (9-3) 60.3
Line Up: Basford, B Andrews, Hay, Burnett
Comments: Good gate by Hay. Both Heathens passed him inside off bend 2. Few struggles with the grippy track but they all got home. Stoke's riders swapped places a few times.

Heat 03: Chessell, Phillips, Atkin, Lawlor 3-3 (12-6) 58.2
Line Up: Chessell, R/R - Lawlor, Atkin, Phillips
Comments: Chessell all the way but Phillips was buzzing around his back wheel for 4 laps waiting for a mistake. Important ride by Chessell. Lawlor rode well through but was slowly losing ground.

Heat 04: Re-Run: Clegg, Hopwood, B Andrews 4-2 (16-8) 56.6 (Burnett - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Clegg, B Andrews, Hopwood, Burnett
Comments: Race Stopped. Burnett fell bends 1 and 2 of lap 2. Try as he might he couldn't clear the track quick enough as Clegg already an awfully long way ahead of him. He's excluded for the re-run. Will be re-run as red light was on before completion of two legs.
Re-Run: Clegg clear again, in both running of that heat B Andrews out gated Hopwood and forced to round him - off bend 2 in the opening running and bend2 of the 2nd meeting. Encouraging start made by the Heathens middle and bottom end. Hope they can keep it up for a full meeting!!

Heat 05: Chessell, Wilson, Lawlor, Tedham - Fell 4-2 (20-10) 58.3
Line Up: Chessell, R/R - Lawlor, Wilson, Tedham
Comments: Chessell all the way with Chessell chasing hard. Good ride again by Chessell up front. Real action was at the back through. Lawlor almost got around outside. Tedham bends 1 & 2 but Tedham levelled out in 3rd. Lawlor set out off in pursuit and made a lovely inside pass on bends 3 & 4 lap 2 up the inside and went clear. Tedham slipped off on his own next bend and did well to get the bike up and out the pit entrance to allow the race to finish.

Heat 06: Morris, Hopwood, R Andrews, Hay - Fell 4-2 (24-12) 56.9
Line Up: Morris, R Andrews, Hopwood, Hay
Comments: Morris away and gone. Potters fated 2nd and 3rd. Hay slipped off fortunately on bend 3 lap 1. Andrews commuted to passing him on the inside. Good on him for clearing the track because he looked to me to limp a little from that one. R Andrews lost his steel shoe on the start line going into the last lap. Three track staff at the gate and not one of them paying attention to clear it from track. Morris hit it as he crossed the finish line but luckily it didn't appear to hurt him or get flicked up in the air.

Heat 07: Clegg, Phillips, Atkin, Basford 3-3 (27-15) 56.3
Line Up: Clegg, Basford, Atkin, Phillips
Comments: From the gate. Basford not a million miles behind but not close enough to challenge. One of the advertising banners has been hanging off the air fence since Tedham hit it in Heat 5. Could do with that been put back up. Banner has now been put up 2 minutes after I text it.

Heat 08: B Andrews, R Andrews, Tedham, Burnett - Retired 5-1 (32-16) 59.3
Line Up: R Andrews, B Andrews, Tedham, Burnett
Comments: Burnett massive overlocking on bend 2 and ended up facing the centre green with little choice but to cross the white line or crash. Super ride by the Heathens an absolute mile clear. B Andrews looked comfortable and R Andrews just held back to let him ride where he wanted to. Good stuff.

Heat 09: Hopwood, Lawlor, Hay, Chessell - Fell, remounted 2-4 (34-20) 59.1
Line Up: Chessell, R/R - Lawlor, Hopwood, Hay
Comments: Chessell fell and remounted whilst leading into bend 3 lap 1. Hopwood picked up the lead to win easily. Super ride by Lawlor to take 2nd. Hated even with Hay and squeezed him up lovely to kill his run off bend 2 and backstraight. Chessell lost half a lap and almost caught Hay, needed another half a lap to get 3rd.

Heat 10: Morris, Phillips, Atkin, B Andrews 3-3 (37-23) 57.8
Line Up: Morris, R Andrews, Atkin, Phillips
Comments: From the gate. Phillips quietly going about the business and doing a solid job.
Sponsored by
Heat 11: Clegg, Wilson, Basford, Tedham 4-2 (41-25) 57.1
Line Up: Clegg, Basford, Wilson, Tedham
Comments: Clegg by best part of a straight. You'd never know he's pretty beaten up from the weekend's crash. Good ride by Basford to take the odd point. Tedham must bilnked or sneezed or something because he missed the start by a mile. The rest were two bike lengths clear before he moved.

Heat 12: Chessell, Hay, B Andrews - Fell, remounted, Atkin - Fell, remounted 4-2 (45-27) 59.7
Line Up: Chessell, B Andrews, Atkin, Burnett
Comments: Chessell no mistake. Bounced back well. B Andrews rounded the Potters to hold 2nd. Bends 3 & 4 Atkin dived inside. No contact but B Andrews slipped off. Atkin probably laid it down but was side by side and the referee clearly felt they fell independently and allowed it to continue. B Andrews got up the quicker and carried on with Atkin staggered it wasn't stopped. Play to the whistle boys. Quarter lap between each rider. Confused Chessell as he looked around finishing the race.

Heat 13: Morris, Clegg, Wilson, Hopwood 3-3 (50-28) 57.1
Line Up: Morris, Clegg, Wilson, Hopwood
Comments: Morris gated and took off. Clegg missed it quite badly but come storming through in double quick time off bend 2.

Heat 14: Lawlor, Basford, Hay, Phillips - Fell 5-1 (55-29) 62.6
Line Up: R/R - Lawlor, Basford, Phillips,Burnett Hay
Comments: Phillips looped at the gate. Speedway still has the power to surprise and amaze. That should have been a Danny Phillips benefit race but he looped it badly straight from the gate and thankfully jumped straight up unhurt to clear the track. Basford levelled off to lead. Lawlor set about chasing down Hay. Gave it dive up the inside into turn3 but couldn't get through. Off bend 2 lap 2 Basford with a massive locker came to a complete halt and did well to stay on. Then Hay did exactly the same and also ground to a holt. Lawlor did well to react to scrub speed and map out the space ahead. While they sorted themselves Lawlor rode round the outside of the pair of them to take off for the win! Brilliant. As mu uncle said, "who hit pause then?"

Heat 15: Re-Run: Morris, Clegg, Wilson, Hopwood 5-1 (60-30) 57.8
Line-up: Morris, Clegg, Hopwood, Williamson
Comments: Race Stopped, Clegg moved and all 4 back for the re-run.
Re-Run: Even start between the Heathens and Wilson who wins off 4. Clegg just there enough to squeeze Wilson up and clear him down the backstraight. The Heathens made short work of going a full straight clear. Clegg shut off nice and early to let Morris take his full maximum. Cracking race at the back. Not joking, they were racing each other to the finish line and swapped places 3 or 4 times. Only a bike length between them at the finish line.

Super night by the Heathens. Totally dominant from top to bottom which has been a rarity this season. Good stuff. Few flashes here and there from the Potters. Plenty of effort by the visitors. Commitment was not an issue. They all gage it everything but we're outclassed on the night. They will look for revenge in the return.
Interviews after meeting. B Andrews admitted he expected the red light and was lucky. Morris made a point of going over to Lawlor and having a word and shaking his hand. Then said all the right things about the recent results being as disappointing for them as for the fans etcetera. Top rider to have around the club for us.
