Heat Results
Heat 01: Morris, Bowen, Mason, R Andrews 3-3 55.57
Line Up: Morris, R Andrews, Bowen, Mason
Comments: Heathens gate on a 4-2. Mason slipped passed for 3rd down the backstraight. R Andrews was faster but trying inside and outside couldn't get through. Went too wide bends 3 & 4 on lap 3 and lost a huge amount of time.
Sponsored by www.jaybeadesigns.co.uk/
Heat 02: Basford, B Andrews, Verge, Clifton - Retired 5-1 (8-4) 58.82
Line Up: Basford, B Andrews, Verge, Clifton
Comments: Heathens gate on a 5-1 but Basford drifted put a touch too far and squeezed B Andrews. That put the visitors right on him. Verge got inside as they entered lap 2 for 2nd. B Andrews tried inside all the way with Clifton close and pushed for 3rd. Clifton made a mistake bends 1 & 2 last lap and crossed the white line as he corrected. B Andrews switched to outside on the last bend and took 2nd back right on the finish line. Great race.

Heat 03: Perry, Shanes, Thomas, Lawlor 3-3 (11-7) 57.12
Line Up: Perry, R/R - , Shanes, Thomas
Comments: All about the front two. Super gate by Shanes. Perry quickly chasing him down, he tried outside and he tried the cutback on bend after bend with Shanes just having enough to hold on. That was until bend 3 lap 3 when Perry decided he'd had enough following and steamed hard under Shanes for the win. Great race.

Heat 04: Ayres, Clegg, B Andrews, Clifton 3-3 (14-10) 57.07
Line Up: Clegg, B Andrews, Ayres, Clifton
Comments: Flying start for Ayres. He was away but made a small mistake bend 4 lap 2 which renewed Clegg's enthusiasm. For a lap I thought Clegg would wind up it up and steal the win but Ayres was quickly as assured as he'd looked before the small mistake and he held on with a little to spare. B Andrews comfortable in 3rd.

Heat 05: Bowen, Perry, Mason, Lawlor 2-4 (16-14) 57.31
Line Up: Perry, R/R - Lawlor, Bowen, Mason
Comments: Mason passed Lawlor for 3rd with a good inside move on bend 4 lap 1 but otherwise well spread out.
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 06: Morris, Ayres, R Andrews, Verge 4-2 (20-16) 57.32
Line Up: Morris, R Andrews, Ayres, Verge
Comments: Ayres took a nibble and stopped as the tapes rose. Morris got away but Ayres missed it so referee let it go. R Andrews briefly got close to Ayres early on after making his way into 3rd. Ayres settled and set sail. He reeled Morris in and at the end of lap 2. I was shouting C'mon Ash wake up and he did. Right on cue he looked across just in time to see Ayres steaming around the outside. Morris moved him up on bend 2 lap 3 and killed that run there and then. Ayres tried to come back again but Morris wound it on to the flag. Good race.

Heat 07: Re-Run: Clegg, Shanes, Thomas, Basford 3-3 (23-19) 57.31
Line Up: Clegg, Basford, Shanes, Thomas
Comments: Race Stopped. Clegg twitched just like Ayres did but Clegg actually made it to the first bend so rightly they're all back in to try again. Clegg has a warning to sit still at the start.
Re-Run: With the big two behaving in the inside it was Thomas he made a stunning start from the outside to lead. Going into bend 3 Clegg charged up the inside and gave Thomas what looked like the slight touch to almost stare him out of the way a bit. That let Shanes into 2nd but Clegg was gone. Thought it might have shaken Thomas enough to give Basford a sniff but Thomas recovered nicely for a comfortable and important 3rd.

Apparently the visitors have complained about Porkie (centre green announcer) waving his arms around as it's distracting them. Assuming it to be true, which it appears to be an serious complaint, it's probably the most pathetic thing I've ever heard in speedway. And when you consider how pathetic speedway can be that's saying something. Hang your heads Kent! It's just been reiterated that this is genuine and a complaint by Kent has been made.
Heat 08: Mason, R Andrews, B Andrews, Clifton 3-3 (26-22) 58.69
Line Up: R Andrews, B Andrews, Mason, Clifton
Comments: Mason all the way with a good steady ride. R Andrews pushed him all the way but never quite got into a position to make a move. B Andrews initially looked comfortable in 3rd but Clifton rode better as the race went on and was suddenly challenging late on. He tried to dive inside in the last bend but B Andrews just about held his lien to hold on by a length. Good effort from Clifton.

Heat 09: Ayres, Perry, Lawlor, Verge 3-3 (29-25) 56.81
Line Up: Perry, R/R - Lawlor, Ayres, Verge
Comments: From the gate. Ayres looking good and comfortable up front. Love Danny Ayres if I could I'd be posting him a 2017 application form.

Heat 10: Shanes, Morris, Thomas, R Andrews 2-4 (31-29) 57.50
Line Up: Morris, R Andrews, Shanes, Thomas
Comments: Visitors gate on a maximum. Took Morris a lap and half to catch and round Thomas for 2nd. By this time Shanes had gone clear. Morris rode a stormer to catch Shanes but Shanes rode a super line and didn't put a wheel wrong. Thomas was quickly caught by R Andrews but try as might there was no way through. Right on the line R Andrews switched out and was only a few inches from stealing 34d as Thomas seemed to shut off with two bike lengths to go. Great race.

Heat 11: Clegg, Bowen, Morris, Basford 3-3 (34-32) 57.25
Line Up: Clegg, Basford, Bowen, Mason
Comments: Clegg reacted well but Bowen got inside him to lead at the apex. Mason rode a superb first two bends to move inside Clegg as they went 3 abreast down the backstraight. Clegg was between them and had to back out of it or risk a big one. He chose the former to slip back to 3rd. He got outside Mason off bend 4 and immediately stormed under Bowen into bend 1 to take the lead. Brilliant lap to sort it out.

Looks to me like Heathens have been slightly caught out by the slicker conditions tonight. Kent are gating well and putting us under all sorts of pressure right through the line up. Can't call this one. We certainly can't assume Clegg and Morris will get us out of trouble with Bowen, Ayres and Shanes looking good.
Heat 12: Perry, Shanes, B Andrews, Verge 4-2 (38-34) 59.25
Line Up: Perry, B Andrews, Shanes, Verge
Comments: Super start for Perry, which doesn't happen often lol. Brilliant firs bend by B Andrews off gate 4. Hung out wide and wasn't tempted to turn in early. Pulled off a massive cut back as soon as Verge left the gap down the backstraight. Held on well from there. Perry drifted too wide off bend 2 lap 2 which let Shanes level for half a lap. Perry then pulled a few lengths clear again.

Heat 13: Clegg, Morris, Bowen, Ayres - Fell / Remounted 5-1 (43-35) 58.19
Line Up: Morris, Clegg, Bowen, Ayres
Comments: Heathens gated but no team riding this time. Clegg got his head down and went. Morris couldn't stay with him but had enough in hand over the chasing pair. The Kings spent most of that heat fighting each other and swapped places about 4 times. Should have let one chase. Ayres slipped off middle of last bend when just last but got up and rolled across the finish line.

Heat 14: Awarded: Basford, R Andrews, Thomas, Clifton - Fell 5-1 (48-36)
Line Up: R/R - R Andrews , Basford, Thomas, Clifton
Comments: Basford made a sensational start and led all the way looking comfortable. R Andrews missed it but rode around the outside of both Kings on consecutive bends in the opening lap and half for 2nd. Superb ride by the lads to pull one out the bag. Clifton fell on bend 3 lap 3. Got up to try to clear tack but then limped a little as he obviously hurt himself a little. Race Stopped and Awarded. He's up and walking away he himself but looks a tad uncomfortable. Perhaps a chain went and whipped him (guessing)
Sponsored by Splod
Hope Ayres didn't hurt himself although it looked simple slide off. I'm surprised he's not in the last heat. That said it's very much 2 from 3 riders tonight with Bowen and Shanes impressing tonight.
Heat 15: Clegg, Morris, Bowen, Shanes 5-1 (53-37) 59.06
Line-up: Morris, Clegg, Shanes, Bowen
Comments: Super start by the Heathens duo. Bowen nearly got his nose up the inside of Morris a couple of times but Morris was doing just enough to pull couple of lengths in the straights. Bends 3 & 4 on lap 3 Bowen made a small mistake and did well to save himself from a high side and actually maintained good moment to stay reasonably close. Clegg backed off last lap or so to ride home side by side with Morris.
What an absolutely storming end to the meeting by the Heathens. Those last 4 heats showed a real desire to fight for the cause. Brilliant stuff. The final score belies the effort by the visitors and only those here will probably realise how hard we were pushed. The score arguably a touch hard in them. Super meeting, great value and everyone has contributed to that.
