Comments:
Teams confirmed.
Tonight's referee is Peter Clarke.
There seems to be a threat of rain - so they're going to get on with the meeting ASAP.
Rye House win the toss and take gates 1+3.
Heat 1: The Rye House pair gated well, but Stonehewer passed Neath on bend 4 of lap 4. Carpanese no where (Kev's comment)
Heat 2: From the gate. C Wright's fastest ever time round Derwent Park. J Branney all over Bekker but there seemed no way through,
Heat 3: Bekker takes the R/R ride.
Heat 3: From the gate. The track seems a bit bumpy and is catching 1 or 2 riders out.
Heat 4: Reserve switch - Roynon replaces Bekker.
Heat 4: Boxall had an engine failure on bend 2 of lap 2 while leading.
Heat 5: Morton demolishes the tapes. He's now off 15 metres.
Heat 5: Morton jumped the start (again!) Neath from the gate, with J Wright never far behind. Morton got close in the early stages, but then dropped back.
Heat 6: Roynon passed Carpanese on bend 4 of lap 3 to get third place.
Heat 7: Bekker takes the R/R ride.
Heat 7: Both Comets made the gate but Woffinden went under C Wright on bend 4 of lap 1.
Heat 8: C Wright replaces Carpanese and Roynon replaces Bekker.
Heat 8: Comets gated but Morton went round both on bend 2 of lap 1. Roynon rounded J Branney bend 4 of lap 2.
Heat 9: Bekker replaces Roynon.
Heat 9: Boxall by miles (Texter's comment). All riders were well spaced out.
Heat 10: Roynon takes the R/R ride.
Heat 10: From the gate. Carpanese and Roynon touched going into bend 1 of lap 1. Roynon not at all happy and was shaking his fist at Carpanese after the race. Carpanese used a bike off the Branney brothers tonight as his are stuck abroad somewhere!
Heat 11: Neath passed C Wright on bend 4 of lap 3 to get second place. Morton retired on bend 2 of lap 2 when last.
Heat 12: C Wright replaces J Branney.
**Interval now on for 5 minutes. Track grading taking place. Kev says that the track is very unpredictable with a patch appearing on the apex of turns 1 and 2. Track getting dusty now aswell. According to Tony Mole, Workington paid £500 plus labour to get the flood lights repaired!**
Heat 12: C Wright held 2nd place until bend 4 of lap 1 when Woffinden passed him. He then had an engine failure and pulled up on bend 4 of lap 2 when 3rd.
Heat 13: Nieminen came under Neath on bend 4 of lap 1. Stonehewer led all the way after a good gate. Not a lot of distance between the first 3.
Heat 14: Morton takes the R/R ride, and Roynon replaces Bekker.
Heat 14: Race of the night between C Wright and Morton. Great ouside pass by C Wright on bend 4 of lap 4. C Wright also announced as rider of the night!
Heat 15 line up: J Wright Stonehewer Boxall Woffinden
Workington win the toss and take gates 2+4.
Heat 15: Stonhewer led from the gate. Boxall held 2nd until J Wright passed him with a great move on bend 2 of lap 2. Easy after that. Kev says that the 2nd part of the meeting was much better than the 1st, but he says he's bound to say that as a Comets fan!
Thanks to the couple of people joining me tonight. And of course the great texts from my good friend Kevcfc.
Goodnight!
