Comments: Simmons gated and Johnson went around the outside to join him. However Johnson then fell under no pressure on the 2nd bend of 2nd lap.

Line Up: (Group B: Plymouth v Bournemouth) Simmonds, Hughes, Herne,Baseby
Comments: Brilliant 1st bend with all the riders going inside and outside. It continued into the 3rd and 4th turns but Baseby had too much speed and had to bail out hitting the fence in the process. Baseby had some attention from the medics but is now up and walking back to the pits but is excluded from the re-run.
Re-run: Herne wins from the gate in a new national league track record time!

Comments: Re-run will all 4 back after Allott gets a flier. In re-run Atkin gave Mallett a nudge on the 1st turn causing him to slide into the fence. In second re-run, Hornets gated but Atkin locked up on the 2nd bend allowing Mallett through. Allott missed the gate completely. Atkin though managed to re-pass Mallett up the inside of bend 4 lap 3 much to the annoyance of the Kings Lynn rider.

Comments: Burrows got into a tangle on the 1st turn and went straight into the fence. Looks to be ok though as he is sat up on the track. In the re-run burrows not fit to ride so Ben Hopwood comes in as a non-scoring reserve. Hitmen gated and although there was a slight battle for 2nd they were comfortable enough. Cook was well clear!

Comments: The Islanders gated on a 7-2 which they needed to make the final. Simmons under heavy pressure from Atkin in second place but just holding him off. Johnson then picked up an alarming amount of grip on bend 2 lap 2 and shot into the fence. Medic on track. Update - Johnson gets a lift back to the pits but seems ok. Race has been awarded which means Newport make the final!!

Comments: Herne gated and was away up front. baseby in 3rd place at this point. But Tregoning swept past Baseby on the backstraight of the 1st lap and despite Baseby getting very close on more than one occasion, Tregoning held on to the all important 3rd place! Congratulations to Newport who win the NL pairs 2009.

Comments: As always in pairs competitions the scoring system will be 4,3,2,0. The format also has that the 2 group winners will meet in the grand final, therefore no semi finals. If 2 teams are level on points at the end of the group stage then the team that progresses to the final will be the team that won when they met in the group.
