Line Up: Paul Starke, Rob Smith, Tony Atkin, Matt Bates
Comments: Islanders gate, Smith under pressure from Atkin for first 2 laps, but riding a good inside line to hold him off, before Atkin goes wide on 3rd bend, 3rd lap and locks up.

Heat 02: Mullins, Hill, Resch, Berwick, 3-3, 8-4, 72.0
Line Up: Tom Hill, John Resch, Rikki Mullins, Dan Berwick
Comments: Mullins gates, I.o.W. tucked into 2nd and 3rd, Hill locked up on 2nd bend, lap 2, but stayed 2nd, from gate.
Sponsored by Steve Dixon www.stevedixonphotography.co.uk [/b]
Heat 03: Re-Run: Smethills, Johnson, A Baseby, 5-1, 13-5, 71.4
Line Up: Lee Smethills, Brendan Johnson, James Clement, Aaron Baseby
Comments: Even break, but Smethills, gets away, with Clement falling off and remounting on 3rd bend. Sounded like he had a sick engine, and fell off again on the 1st bend. Race stopped, re-run without him.
Re-Run: Islanders gate, nervy moment for Johnson on 4th bend, but recovers to hold the place. A Baseby trying hard around outside, but just failing to get past.

Heat 04: M Baseby, Simmons, Resch, Berwick, 3-3, 16-8, 69.9
Line Up: Nick Simmons, John Resch, Mark Baseby, Dan Berwick
Comments: Great start from Mark Baseby, clamping Simmons inside him, but Simmons soon into 2nd to give him chase. Berwick at the back. Simmons really chucking it into the corners, but the surprisingly unattached Mark Baseby scores a convincing win.

Heat 05: Atkins, Smethills, Johnson, Bates, 3-3, 19-11, 71.2

Heat 07: Re-Run: Simmons, A Baseby, Clement, 3-3, 25-17, 71.3
Line Up: Nick Simmons, Tom Hill, James Clement, Aaron Baseby
Comments: Simmons away well, good battle for 2nd, Hill on outside, A Baseby on inside, but Hill slid off going into 1st bend next time around, and although he tried to clear the track, he buckled his front wheel, excluded from re-run. Brief delay whilst bike hauled off track.
Re-Run: Simmons bogged down abit at the start, but hit the front anyway, before A Baseby launched an attack up the inside, quickly stubbed out as Simmons raced away. Clement impressing only his Gran at the back

Heat 09: BASEBY, Smethills, Johnson, 3-6, 33-24,
Line Up: Lee Smethills, Brendan Johnson, MARK BASEBY, Rikki Mullins
Comments: M Baseby on a tactical.
M Baseby away well, Smethills does his best to come over from gate 4, but just allows some space for M Baseby to squeeze through. Mullins spun at the back though, so not the huge dent in the I.o.W.s lead they were looking for. Mullins retired.
Update - Mullins didn't spin (I wasn't wasn't looking at the back) his steel shoe fell off, and Brendan Johsnsons bike packed up after the line, meaning a long walk back to pits!

Heat 11: Simmons, Atkin, Resch, Bates, 4-2, 41-28, 69.8
Line Up: Nick Simmons,Tom Hill John Resch, Tony Atkin, Matt Bates
Comments: John Resch in for Tom Hill.
Duff gate from Resch, but he cuts back under the Crusaders to get past Bates, but Simmons flew around the outside to lead comfortably. 2 battles in one race, both won by the IOW, altho Resch cut off a little early to give Bates a sniff!

Heat 12: Smethills, Resch, Clement, 5-1, 46-29, A

Line Up: Brendan Johnson,Tom Hill John Resch, Aaron Baseby, Dan Berwick Rikki Mullins
Comments: Resch in for Hill, Mullins in for Berwick.
Red lights on, false start - man in front of the start using flash photography.
Take two.. I.o.W. gate A Baseby around outside of Resch on 4th bend, but Resch hit back on bend 2, lap 2. Mullins fell, rem on bend 4, then fell again on bend 1, race awarded.
Slight delay as paramedics out on track with Mullins - now up and ok.

Heat 15: Smethills, Simmons, Atkin, 5-1, 57-39, 70.4
Line-up: Lee Smethills, Nick Simmons, Tony Atkin, Mark Baseby
Comments: Smethills gated, Simmons at back, both Simmons and M Baseby going around the outside to pass Atkin and Smethills respectively, Simmons trying everything, but M Baseby looking more likely to pass before his chain came off on 4th bend, 3rd lap, causing him to be very grumpy! As this went on, Simmons kept winding it on, and got Atkin on the final corner, cracking race to finish off with.
