Heat Results
Heat 01: Ritchings, Johnson. Greaves (FX), Knuckey (X). 52.97
Line Up: Johnson, Knuckey, Greaves, Ritchings
Comments: Stopped. Greaves loses it on bend 2 lap 2 and hits the fence when third. He's up and ok though but isn't able to clear the track in time. He's excluded and Knuckey who packed up on bend 2 lap 1 is also out as he wasn't under power when the red lights came on.
Re-Run: 2 riders only. Close from the gate but Johnson had the inside line which gave him the drive off bend 2. Ritchings gave chase but drifted wide on bend 2 lap 2 and lost ground. Johnson though kept overlocking on bend 4 allowing Ritchings to close lap by lap and on the final bend with Ritchings closing, Johnson over locked and fell allowing Ritchings to steal the win. Johnson remounted for second.

Heat 02: Stoneman, Carr, Andrews, Freemantle. 54.53
Line Up: Freemantle, Andrews, Carr, Stoneman
Comments: Good gates from Stoneman and Carr but Stoneman just got over him on the run to the line. As you were after that.
Sponsored by Steve Dixon www.stevedixonphotography.co.uk [/b]
Heat 03: D. Greenwood, O. Greenwood. Govier (FX), Ellis (FX). 56.75
Line Up: Govier, O. Greenwood, Ellis, D. Greenwood
Comments: Stopped. Ellis gated like a rocket but picked up grip and fell on bend 2. Right behind him Govier slid off too. Ellis got up and cleared the track and Govier remounted. However one lap later Govier went down again and the race was stopped as he couldn't clear the track. Both fallers ok but excluded.
Re-Run: From the gate until Oliver fell on the very last bend to allow Dan to take the win. It's tricky out there!
Sponsored by [/b]
Heat 04: Williamson, Clegg. Bates (ret), Hazelden (FX). 60.72
Line Up: Bates, Hazelden, Clegg, Williamson
Comments: Hazelden fell bend 4 lap 2 when 2nd. All up and ok as Clegg laid it down and Hazelden is excluded.
Re-Run: Bates packed up as he entered lap 2 with Clegg in close proximity. Clegg was miles clear until he fell on the final bend to allow Williamson to take his first competitive career win. Mikey says whoever stays up will win tonight.
Sponsored by Friends of Edinburgh Speedway www.foes.info/
So far the falls haven't been serious but they're doing track work at the moment. Mikey's stood with Ben Barker if anyone interested lol
Heat 05: Williamson, Freemantle. Johnson (fell), Ellis (FX). awarded
Line Up: Williamson, Johnson, Freemantle, Ellis
Comments: Ellis missed the gate but he picked off Freemantle with ease up the inside of turn 4 lap 1 then Johnson off bend 2 lap 2. He then closed up on Williamson and made his move up the inside on the final bend but went in too hard and both of them went down. Ellis rightly excluded, but all ok. Johnson fell at the end of lap 2.
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 06: Hazelden, Govier. Andrews (ret), Knuckey (FX). 56.50
Line Up: Hazelden, Govier, Knuckey, Andrews
Comments: Stopped. Knuckey down on bend 1 and is excluded. Govier did well to lay it down.
Re-Run: From the gate for Hazelden, both Andrews and Govier packed up though. Govier ran round his final lap for second. Andrews and Hazelden ran across to encourage him. Great sportsmanship!

Heat 07: O. Greenwood, Bates, Carr. Greaves (FX). 53.82
Line Up: Bates, O. Greenwood, Greaves, Carr
Comments: Stopped. Greaves picks up on bend 1 and down he goes. It looked a bit of a nasty fall but he's straight up and ok but excluded from the re-run.
Re-Run: Tight, very tight first bend between Greenwood and Bates. Greenwood just got the best of it and pulled away to win easily. Better from the youngsters though, hopefully it's settling down a bit.

Heat 08: Stoneman, Ritchings, D. Greenwood, Clegg. 55.56
Line Up: Ritchings, Stoneman, D. Greenwood, Clegg

Heat 10: Bates, D. Greenwood. Neale (fell), Knuckey (FX). 52.94
Line Up: D. Greenwood,Freemantle Neale, Bates, Knuckey
Comments: Stopped. Knuckey fell. All 4 back for the re-run.
Re-Run: Stopped. All go down bar Bates. All 4 back.
Re-Run x2: Stopped. Yet again all 3 behind Bates fall. This time Knuckey is excluded, harshly in Mikey's opinion. Bates has gated every time, but equally every time he has locked up slightly which in Mikey's opinion has caused the falls. Track conditions are tough so it's hard to blame anyone, just Mikey's observation.
Re-Run x3: Bates gated and looked good. Neale fell bend 4 lap 1.

Freemantle has been withdrawn with a slight injury and will be replaced by Michael Neale.
Greaves has also been withdrawn with a shoulder complaint and his rides will be taken by David Abraham.
Just discussing with Mikey, he seems to put the number of falls down to partly the track and the young riders enthusiasm, The track is ok now really or at least it seems ok, but it is a bit patchy. From last years semi-final, Marc Owen is still out injured and Adam Wrathall has taken a year out to fully recover, but gladly there's been nothing serious tonight. Though maybe this meeting is too prestigious to open a season for these kids, and that'd also mean it's put on in better weather?!
Heat 11: Ellis, Stoneman, Hazelden. Abraham (ret). 55.28
Line Up: Stoneman, Ellis,Greaves Abraham, Hazelden
Comments: Best race of the night between the front two! Ellis rounded Stoneman on bend 2 lap 1 to lead, Dan tried to repay the compliment a lap later but Ellis slammed the door shut on the back straight. As you were after that.

Heat 12: Ritchings, Neale. Williamson (FX), Carr (FX). 56.22

Comments: Stopped. Ritchings got a shove from Williamson and went down on bend 1. All 4 back.
Re-Run: Govier replaced by Neale. Mikey isn't sure why because he looked fine. Stopped. Carr fell bend 3 lap 1. He's up and ok but excluded.
Re-Run x2: Stopped. This time Williamson slid off on bend 3 lap 1 and is excluded. The track really doesn't seem too bad now.

Re-Run: Bates from the gate. Ellis fell bend 4 lap 2 when he was chasing in second.

Teams confirmed.
The top 7 progresses to the final and will meet the following seeds at Dudley on April 23th: Kyle Howarth, Jason Garrity, Tom Perry, Ashley Morris, Stefan Nielsen, Joe Jacobs, James Sarjeant, Ben Morley, Robert Branford.
New lights amongst many other improvements. Its not raining though but it's [retty chilly, the track looks in good nick considering the weather (hail storms and all!) Not many in yet but hopefully the racing will be good. Slight delay due to track work, the parade is just about to start.
