Heat Results
Heat 01: Blackbird, O.Greenwood, Chessell, Phillips Time: 55.47 (Sarjeant - Tapes)
Line Up: O.Greenwood, Blackbird, Phillips,Sarjeant - Tapes Chessell
Comments: Phillips and Sarjeant went through the tapes, totally demolished. Race Stopped. Sarjeant is excluded and Chessell replaces him in the re-run.
Re-Run: Blackbird flying a million miles clear. 55.47 announced as a new track record but it's not because this isn't a NL meeting and he's not a NL rider. Phillips took a tumble on bend 1 and rejoins the race at the back.

Heat 02: Birks, Worrall, Newman, Armstrong Time: 56.53
Line Up: Newman, Worrall, Birks, Armstrong
Comments: What a race. Newman leads, passed by Birks. Newman get back up the inside. Birks stormed back around him. Newman went for a cut back and Worrall saw the gap and divided through into 2nd on the last turn as Worrall did the same to Birks. Off the last corner Worrall had the best run to the line but missed out by barely a tyre.

Heat 03: Lambert, Clegg, Perry, Chessell Time: (Greaves - Excluded)
Line Up: Perry,Greaves - Tapes Chessell, Clegg, Lambert
Comments: Clegg got a flyer, all 4 back for the re-run. He's awesome at guessing when to go.
Re-Run: For me the tapes got caught on the cone/pole but referee excluded Greaves off gate 2 from the re-run. The whole start team looking at the position of the cone which is suspicious! Chessell replaces Greaves in the re-run.
Re-Run X2: Perry passed Chessell coming off bend 4 lap 1. Clegg looking back more than forwards, perhaps felling slow. Chessell fell during the last lap whilst at the back.

Heat 04: Roynon, D.Greenwood, Hopwood (Williamson - Excluded)
Line Up: D.Greenwood, Hopwood, Roynon, Williamson
Comments: Race Stopped. Williamson knocked Roynon off on turn 4 lap 2. Shame as was shaping up as an excellent race. Williamson was leading, challenged by D.Greenwood. Roynon went around D.Greenwood off turn 4 lap 1 and as Williamson went wide on turn 2 lap 2 to cut back to lead off the the turn during lap 2. At the same time, Hopwood got passed by D.Greenwood for 3rd place. Roynon left a gap on the bottom turn and Williamson went for it. Was virtually through but drifted a touch and his back wheel clipped Roynon's front. Soft landing and Roynon jumps straight up. Williamson is excluded from the re-run.
Re-Run: Good ride up on front. It took Roynon 2 laps to get around D.Greenwood get into a more commending position in front. D.Greenwood pushed him hard all the way through the race.

Heat 05: Newman, O.Greenwood, Williamson, Clegg
Line Up: Williamson, O.Greenwood, Newman, Clegg
Comments: Fantastic race again. O.Greenwood was leading with Newman charging hard up the inside. Nothing between them and on the last turn Newman went to the outside and grabs enough traction to pull him around to win by a bike length. Clegg made a right cock up of turn 1 on the opening 2 laps and left himself far too much to do.

Heat 06: Blackbird, Birks, Hopwood, Perry
Line Up: Hopwood, Perry, Blackbird, Birks
Comments: Blackbird by the best part of a straight. Looks ominous for the rest! Hopwood made Birks work overtime to hang on to 2nd place and Perry was pushing hard. Hopwood lifting slightly on the run to the line as Perry kept his head down and went flat out for a late charge. Half a wheel in it.

Heat 07: Worrall, D.Greenwood, Greaves (Phillips - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Greaves, D.Greenwood, Worrall, Phillips
Comments:Race Stopped, Phillips fell into turn 3 lap 1. D.Greenwood did well to lay it down and avoid a nasty crash. Both up and walking back to the pits.
Re-Run: D.Greenwood had a cheeky little nose up the inside of Worrall on the first turn during lap 2. Worrall pinched it off and pulled away.

Heat 08: Lambert, Roynon, Sarjeant, Armstrong
Line Up: Sarjeant, Armstrong, Lambert, Roynon
Comments: What a race. Seriously boys and girls buy the DVD! Lambert squeezed Roynon up high on the first turn. Roynon set after him trying inside and outside. Coming off turn 4 lap 3, Lambert left a little more room and Roynon turned back and got level as they went on into the last lap. Half way down the backstraight Roynon edged a bike length ahead. Lambert wasn't done through and went hard around the outside. On the run to the line it looked like Roynon would hang on Lambert has stolen it by an inch on the line. Sarjeant passed Armstrong during lap 1 for 3rd place.

Heat 09: Roynon, Greaves, O.Greenwood, Birks
Line Up: Birks, Roynon, O.Greenwood, Greaves
Comments: Roynon all the way. Birks lifted wildly on turn 2. Self preservation kicked in and he somehow saved it, actually managed to hang onto 3rd place. Last bend Birks messed up and O.Greenwood was squeezed through to 3rd place by a length.

Heat 10: Newman, D.Greenwood, Lambert, Blackbird
Line Up: Lambert, Newman, D.Greenwood, Blackbird
Comments: Blackbird messed the start up and as he went for a big blast off gate 4. D.Greenwood made a slight mistake which completely messed up Blackbird's run. Newman took up front. D.Greenwood then set out after Lambert. There was nothing between them for couple of laps with D.Greenwood getting through the last lap. Blackbird worked hard to close 30/40m to be on there back wheel but ran out of laps.

Heat 11: Clegg, Armstrong, Hopwood, Phillips - Fell

Good to see Darryl Richards here. Still plans to have a practice spin in September and be back racing next season. Admits he did consider not coming back to speedway bit changed his mind very quickly. Local cycle speedway track is closing down. They have remaining funds. Representatives here tonight are donating tit to the BSBRF. Super gesture.
Heat 13: Worrall, O.Greenwood, Lambert, Chessell (Hopwood - 2 Minutes)
Line Up: Worrall, Lambert, ChessellHopwood - 2 Minutes, D.Greenwood
Comments: What a shame. Hopwood stalled and nobody helped him try to push start it, he is excluded on 2 minutes and Chessell replaces him in the re-run.
Re-Run: Super first turn by Worrall. Clamped Lambert and left him no room at all. Cost Lambert a lot of time. He gave chase and closed a lot on O.Greenwood. O.Greenwood held out by about 3 lengths.

Heat 15: Newman, Perry, Roynon, Phillips
Line-up: Roynon, Phillips, Perry, Newman
Comments: Massive and I mean massive jump by Newman. He was more than a bike length clear from the start but referee let it go. Utter farce. Roynon and Perry engaging in a 3 lap shoulder to shoulder battle for 2nd place. Perry going clear in 2nd place on the last lap. That could have ruined the meeting!

Heat 16: Sarjeant, Birks, Clegg, D.Greenwood - Fell
Line-up: Clegg, Birks, Sarjeant, D.Greenwood
Comments: Another massive jump at the start line. Sarjeant is again a couple of lengths clear from the gate bit the referee let it go. This is going to spoil a terrific meeting. He's had the 2 minutes on before the riders have cleared the track from the previous heat all night. Birks had to shake off Clegg then chase down Sarjeant. He was clearly the fastest rider in the race but couldn't get quite through.
