Heat Results
Still find it staggering that any rider chooses not to wear goggles for their practice laps before the meeting.
Heat 01: Clegg, Halsey, Bacon, Mogridge 3-3 Time: 62.03
Line Up: Clegg, Mogridge, Halsey, R/R - Bacon
Comments: Bacon is for rider replacement.
All riders at the tapes and the red lights come on. Riders are sent back to the pits and the track electrician is called for. No information whatsoever for the fans. Shambles. All electrics are sound based on what Pearson has just announced. Referee has come down to talk to all riders. Pearson said to give the riders 5 to 10 mins before any start of meeting. Looks as through they're going to use elastic. Partial electric failure to the stadium. It's affecting some but not all electric supply.
Green flag to replace green light and knicker elastic to replace the start gate.
About to start now. Was half experience ting to hear the AA had repaired Ruddick's van and excepting he'd was here!
Superb gate by the visitors. Clegg was dead last from the knicker elastic. Passed Mogridge backstraight of lap 1 for 3rd place. Clegg passed Bacon home straight into lap 2 to move into 2nd. Clegg passed Halsey off bend 4 lap 2 to take the lead. Super rider on the edge of the dirt and looking fast. Mogridge messed up turn 1 and didn't really trouble Bacon who rode a faultless ride to an important point.

Heat 02: Neale, Bacon, Perks, Pestell - Fell / Remounted 4-2 7-5 Time: 63.37
Line Up: Neale, Perks, Bacon, Pestell
Comments: Super start for Neale and he was comfortable. Notably Neale has a 12 point average as a Heathens asset. Perks looked a little tentative. Challenged Bacon but the visitor again did not put a wheel wrong.

Heat 03: Williamson, Mountain, Harris 4-2 11-7 Time: 62.28 (Kingston - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Williamson, Harris, Mountain, Kingston
Comments: Race Stopped, Kingston in 2nd did a 180 spin on bends 1 and 2 during lap 2. Mountain did well to bail out without ploughing in to him. Harris did well to stay calm and find an alternative route around the outside of the pair to them. Kingston excluded from the re-run.
Re-Run: Easy one for Williamson. He looked quick and comfortable. No action to speak of.
Sponsored by Talk Speedway Radio www.talkspeedway.co.uk
Heat 04: Greaves, Coles, Pestell 3-3 14-10 Time: 62.31 (Perks - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Greaves, Perks, Coles, Pestell
Comments: Race Stopped. Got very tight with All 4 on turn 2. Perks touched a back wheel and took a nasty fall. Thankfully he's up straight away.
Re-Run: Coles close on lap 1 but then Greaves pulled well clear. Probably one of his quickest rides around here. Potentially important point for Pestell.
Sponsored by Friends of Edinburgh Speedway www.foes.info/
Heat 05: Williamson, Halsey, Harris, Bacon 4-2 18-12 Time: 61.72 (Pestell - 2 Minutes / Excluded)
Line Up: Williamson, Harris, Halsey, R/R -Pestell - 2 Minutes Bacon
Comments: Pestell is for rider replacement.
Pestell is excluded for missing the 2 minutes. Bacon replaces him in the re-run.
Re-Run: Halsey challenged on the opening lap. Williamson then pulled well clear and looks good tonight. Harris comfortable in 3rd.
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 06: Race Awarded: Mogridge, Clegg, Bacon 5-1 23-13 (Coles - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Clegg, Mogridge, Coles, Bacon
Comments: Mogridge edged the start as the visitors clamped Clegg to the kerb. Clegg went inside Bacon off bend 2 lap 1 and switched immediately to the outside of Coles passed him off bend 2 lap 2 and actually fired himself passed Mogridge too. Then lost power or puncture and was holding on before Coles fell. Race Stopped. Margaret Vardy at her finest. Didn't seem to notice Coles fall and Bacon have to lay it down as she didn't stop the race until the Heathens had done almost another lap.

Heat 07: Race Awarded: Greaves, Mountain, Kingston, Neale - Fell / Excluded 3-3 26-16 Time: 63.47
Line Up: Greaves, Neale, Mountain, Kingston
Comments: What a farce. Race Stopped again. Kingston fell bend 2 lap 2. Mountain laid it down. Race was not stopped, both eventually got up to carry on. Neale who'd led from the start then fell on bend 3 lap 3 an despite getting up the referee slammed the red lights on immediately and she's excluded Neale. Absolute farce. Race Awarded.
Now the Vary experience kicks in and the shambles descends into farce!!

Heat 08: Mogridge, Kingston - Tactical Ride, Perks, Pestell - Fell / Remounted then retired 4-4 30-20 Time: 63.35
Line Up: Mogridge, Perks, R/R - Kingston, Pestell
Comments: Kingston is for rider replacement and takes a tactical ride.
Unsatisfactory start, two riders go and two riders stay. All 4 back for the re-run.
Re-Run: Mogridge all the way. Perks 2nd of turn 2 lap 1. Kingston managed to both lift widely and still pass inside Perks safely at the same time in the middle of bends 1 and 2 during lap 2. As he recovered full control Perks passed him coming off the turn. Kingston recovered well and rode it a good line last turn to nick it on the line.

Heat 09: Williamson, Bacon, Coles, Harris 3-3 33-23 Time: 62.60
Line Up: Williamson, Harris, Coles, Bacon
Comments: Williamson by a mile up front. Good ride in 2nd all the way by Bacon. Coles made a pigs ear of turns 3 and 4 one which allowed Harris close but never close enough to challenge for 3rd. Like his namesake his gating is woeful. Hopeful somebody can help him out either with set-up or technique or both!!

Heat 10: Clegg, Mogridge, Kingston, Mountain 5-1 38-24 Time: 62.40
Line Up: Clegg, Mogridge, Mountain, Kingston
Comments: Unsatisfactory start, Clegg rolling at the tapes and all 4 back for the re-run. Clegg warned for rolling.
Re-Run: Flyer for the Heathens duo. Clegg touched but certainly didn't touch the knicker elastic. Perhaps a tad lucky. Kingston was determined to take the extra tenner for 3rd and passed quite forcefully.

Heat 11: Halsey, Greaves, Pestell 4-2 40-28 Time: 62.50 (Neale - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Greaves, Neale, Halsey, R/R - Pestell
Comments: Pestell is for rider replacement.
Race Stopped. Neale was 3rd turns 1 and 2 looked to be on an easy point but lost control middle of the turn. Tried to cling on but clipped the fence coming off bend 2 and fell. Neale up after a couple of mins. Shame for him as he could easily have scored really well tonight. Neale is excluded from the re-run.
Re-Run: Good ride by Halsey all the way. Greaves was challenging and almost got under Halsey off bend 4 lap 3. Halsey didn't make any kind of mistake through and Greaves hadn't got that little bit extra required.
Sponsored by
Heat 12: Williamson, Mountain, Perks, Bacon - Fell 4-2 44-30 Time: 62.97
Line Up: Williamson, Perks, Mountain, Bacon
Comments: Williamson rode a stormer after Mountain gated well and rode a good opening lap. As soon as Williamson moved to the outside and hit the dirt visibly picked up speed and blasted around the outside of turn 2. At the back Perks pulled up on the last lap and rolled around to finish for the point holding his knee and obviously in pain. Limped away when he got off the bike too.
Sponsored by
Heat 13: Clegg, Greaves, Halsey, Clegg 5-1 49-31 Time: 62.19
Line Up: Clegg, Greaves, Halsey, Coles
Comments: Heathens all the way after they levelled out off bend 2. The only real action was Greaves getting a tad close to Clegg's back wheel when he rode the dirt line on bends 3 and 4 during lap 2.

Heat 14: Bacon, Neale, Harris 3-3 52-34 Time: 65.00 (Kingston - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Harris, Neale, Kingston, BaconPestell
Comments: Bacon replaces Pestell.
Unsatisfactory start, Bacon rolled, all 4 back in the re-run.
Re-Run: Race Stopped. Kingston spun around in front of everybody and it's caused carnage. Bacon laid it down. Neale straightened up to miss Bacon and seemed to clip him slightly but managed to somehow miss Kingston. Harris had to pay it down and bumped Kingston. Neale stayed on and is ok. Kingston and Harris get up. Medical attention for Bacon. He is thankfully up and walking away now.
Re-Run: Bacon all the way and riding well. Neale pushed hard and was probably the quickest. Couple of little mistakes meant he was never quite looking like he'd pass. Great night for Bacon. Impressed me most of the visitors tonight.
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 15: Clegg, Halsey, Williamson, Mountain 4-2 56-36 Time: 62.28
Line-up: Clegg, Williamson, Mountain, Halsey
Comments: Halsey the best reaction and took care of Williamson. Clegg had the whole inside to himself and made it work by edging into turn 3 just ahead of Halsey. Halsey gave chase and never gave Clegg a second to relax. Halsey tried to dive bomb Clegg who seemed not to know it was coming and was almost caught out. Cracking effort by Halsey but Clegg hangs on by a length.
