Heat 01: Clegg, Williamson, Purchase, Holt 4-2 58.06
Line Up: Clegg, Purchase, Williamson, Holt
Comments: Superb gate by Purchase and immediately looked across for Clegg who got there with him. Took Williamson a lap to get around the outside of Purchase and go clear in 2nd. Clegg with fastest time of the season.

Heat 02: Bewley, Basford, Mellish, Andrews (Fell, remounted) 2-4 6-6 59.99
Line Up: Andrews, Basford, Mellish, Bewley

Heat 03: Chessell, Shuttleworth, Kingston, Woolley 4-2 10-8 60.13
Line Up: Chessell, Kingston, Shuttleworth, Woolley

Line Up: Morris, Basford, Payne, Bewley

Really solid start, I'm a bit nervous about the first half of season for Cradley. We'll be better as they all (except Morris and Clegg) get dialed in.
Heat 05: Williamson, Chessell, Holt, Kingston 2-4 16-14 58.10
Line Up: Chessell, Kingston, Williamson, Holt
Comments: Super start and first bend by Williamson, he looked good up front and went well clear. Kingston challenged hard. Drifted wide and nearly hit on bend 2 fence once. Then next lap tried to bore a hole under Holt going into bend 1 and had to lock it up to avoid contact. Good effort. Good ride by Holt not to be spooked into moving out the way.

Heat 06: Clegg, Payne, Purchase, Mellish 4-2 20-16 59.14
Line Up: Clegg, Purchase, Payne, Mellish
Comments: Super start by the Heathens duo Payne got inside Purchase immediately and got level with Clegg. Nothing between them until Clegg stamped his authority lap 2. Creditable effort by Mellish at the back. He kept chipping away and kept Purchase honest all the way.

Heat 07: Morris, Shuttleworth, Woolley, Andrews (Fell, Remounted) 3-3 23-19 59.58

Heat 08: Re-Run: Purchase, Basford, Holt 5-1 28-20 63.71 (Bewley - Fell / Excluded)
Line Up: Purchase, Basford, Holt, Bewley
Comments: Race Stopped. Oooooooo heck. Bewley's inexperience and enthusiasm had truly got the better of him. All gated level. He dived hard inside everyone with all but the back wheel over the kerb. That sent him scooting across the front of the others who missed him. He did well to regain control and actually levelled off in 2nd on the backstraight of lap 1. He didn't learn and did the same thing in bend 3 at higher speed. As he hit the kerb sparks filled the sky, he took out Purchase and accelerated hard in the other fence. Thankfully the other two managed to avoid the carnage. Also it's good to see both riders were up straight away. Purchase with a mature response went over and gave the young lads a few words of advice without totally losing his cool. I hope Bewley learns something from that. He clearly has talent and that's want I want to see more of. This was an unnecessary and dangerous move.
Re-Run: Heathens popped off the start the better and put together 4 safe and steady laps. That's a big heat result for us at this stage.

Heat 09: Race Awarded: Chessell, Payne, Mellish, Kingston - Fell / Excluded 3-3 31-23
Line Up: Chessell, Kingston, Payne, Mellish
Comments: Heathens out of the start again. Chessell easily got it in the bag. Kingston holding Payne off but again is just drifting a touch at times. Last lap bend 2 he's gone over the old top of the camber and has absolutely clattered the fence. He hit back first directly on one of the posts and came to a dead stop. After several worrying minutes Kingston is able to get up and walk away under his own steam. Early interval as he has actually broken the post!

INTERVAL
Heat 10: Clegg, Bewley, Shuttleworth, Purchase 3-3 34-26 60.27
Line Up: Clegg, Purchase, Shuttleworth, BewleyWoolley
Comments: Bewley replaces Woolley.
What a ride. Firstly, superb gating by the visitors Shuttleworth had been sharp all night and Bewley there too. It took Clegg 3 full laps to establish in 2nd. He passed Shuttleworth bend 1 lap 2 only for Shuttleworth to get back past. Went into last lap finally secure 2nd but Bewley went clear. Storming last lap by Clegg to get inside Bewley on the last bend.

Heat 11: Morris, Williamson, Holt, Andrews - Fell , remounted 3-3 37-29 58.94
Line Up: Morris, Andrews, Williamson, Holt
Comments: Morris with ease, Well spread out.

Heat 12: Chessell, Shuttleworth, Bewley, Basford 3-3 40-32 60.54
Line Up: Chessell, Basford, Shuttleworth, BewleyMellish
Comments: Bewley replaces Mellish.
Chessell just the best start but slight error meant he drifted and inadvertently took Bewley all the way to the fence. That gave Shuttleworth have a chance but Chessell kept the lead around the outside bends 3 and 4 and then had it in the bag. Bewley recovered well and went around outside of Basford on bend 2 lap 3 for 3rd.

Heat 13: Clegg, Morris, Williamson, Payne 5-1 45-33 59.71
Line Up: Clegg, Morris, Williamson, Payne
Comments: Clegg obviously decided last one was too much like hard work because that was a lighting start. Morris worked it to get around Williamson without running into Clegg. Superb by Williamson to get inside Morris off bend 4 lap 1. Morris returned the compliment to retake 2nd in the next lap. Payne nowhere.

Heat 14: Re-Run: Bewley, Woolley, Andrews, Basford 1-5 46-38 61.66 (Kingston - Fell)
Line Up:Kingston - Fell Basford, Andrews, Woolley, Bewley
Comments: Race Stopped. Weird one. Bewley fell middle of bend 1 and took the advertising banner off. Red lights on. Separately Kingston got a tank slapper on and fell on his own bend 2 after the red lights came on. Decision is all 4 back for the re-run. Don't understand that. Assumed the red lights came on immediately due to Bewley's fell leaving the advertising banner off. He should be excluded. Basford replaces Kingston in the re-run. I don't think that's technically allowed. But of course the alternative is to simply allow the 2 minutes to expire then put Basford in anyway.
Re-Run: Colts with a clean sheet and an first easy 5-1 for them.
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 15: Re-Run: Clegg, Morris, Shuttleworth 5-1 51-39 60.69 (Williamson - Fell / Excluded)
Line-up: Clegg, Morris, Williamson, Shuttleworth
Comments: Cradley off 1+3 and Belle Vue off 2+4.
Race Stopped. Williamson spun himself around on bend 1 having led into the corner after a sharp gate. Morris reacted well to go around him cleanly. Clegg worked miracles to lock up and almost stop dead on the spot to get inside Williamson safely. Williamson is excluded from the re-run.
Re-Run: Well that was a lively way to end the meeting. Shuttleworth with a massive jump at the start. Tapes up just and he stopped himself then went. He went around the outside of the Heathens duo to lead off bend 2. Heathens charged after him Clegg inside and Morris outside. Coming off bend 4, Shuttleworth hooked up the best and held his lead. All 3 riders dived into bend 1 lap 2 hard. Shuttleworth fell mid track going into the bend. To his eternal fortune the Heathens were committed either side of him and were somehow able to pass safely either side of him. Shuttleworth jumped straight up and carry on for the point.

Some positives for both teams tonight. For Heathens all scored and good to see the bottom 3 chipping in. That's vital for us. For Belle Vue Williamson was very lively, Shuttleworth good value and gated well all night. Bewley will cash in well at reserve and score when in the top 5 when the averages change. Payne will obviously have better scores than this.
Bigger crowd and always will be at Monmore because a doddle to get to for more people. Most prefer the racing there too. It;s more consistently good although I've been to Perry Barr a lot and seen some fantastic racing, espically in the PL years.
Good start for us Pleased with Purchase and Basford scoring well enough straight off the bat. Andrews needs to get used to league racing and stand his ground in the first turns. He's already commented that he knows that was his problem tonight. Kingston struggled with his starts then made that big mistake. Hopefully lessons learnt and he should kick on to a 7+ average this year. Clegg and Morris missed some starts but sorted it all out and will be immense for us in Heats 13 and 15. Chessell will be superb too.
