Not this year, the FIM are replacing it with the FIM Speedway of Nations.....supposed to get more countries in the competition....the guess being it is a glorified World Pairs...... Armando Castagna announced it this past week and was in Speedway Star...... The one event that brought great racing almost every time is gone, well at least for 2018. Something about, if 'ain't broke lets fix it!! Really, who cares if Poland win it every year....what goes around comes around, sure they were saying that in Poland when England and GB were winning all the time....not to mention Denmark of course! Think the idea is to bring youngsters into it more, 125cc 250cc aswell as the norm' 500's pairs bringing in those with only a handfull of riders, like GB

And no doubt at a big cost for the fans!

Thought I would bring this up again..... Changes to the rules for 2018.
15.2.6 Only if a rider is at the Starting Gate with sufficient time remaining of the 2-minute allowance, be permitted to prepare their Start area, provided they remain in full, personal control of their motorcycle, have the Cut-Out Lanyard attached, and remain astride their motorcycle facing the direction of racing.
Key words here.....REMAIN ASTRIDE.
A Starting Offence is considered to have been committed in the following circumstances: - Gate Preparation after the expiry of the 2-minute allowance. When a rider’s motorcycle or any part of their body or equipment touches or breaks the starting tapes whilst the green starting light is on or prevents the raising of the start gate
Key words here...ANY PART OF THEIR BODY OR EQUIPMENT TOUCHES THE TAPE......no more helmet touches.
Still checking out the rules so look out for more...well maybe.

Next one!!!
15.8.1 If the Referee stops a heat, following an incident or accident, where the rider causing the stoppage and his team partner were in third and fourth place and a re-run is called with one of those riders excluded, the Referee has the sole discretion to order that the remaining team partner will start on a 15 metre handicap in gate position c or d (the opposing team does not change positions).

To stop the stupidity of last year in the KO Cup.....
18.2.4 A rider may only guest for one team in any leg (home and away).
