Heat Results
Heat 01: Clegg, Wood, Spencer. Widman (FX). 4-2
Line Up: Clegg, Spencer, Wood, Widman
Comments: Stopped. Clegg had a nibble at the gate but missed it. Dead last away. Spencer rode a super first turn to get inside the IOW pair to lead off turn two. Clegg steamed past the IOW duo and Spencer to lead in to turn 3. Widman went in too hard behind Spencer and knocked him off, falling himself in the process. Wood did well to navigate a route through bikes and bodies. Luckily both riders up quickly. Widman DQ'd.
Re-Run: Clegg away well this time. Wood made a good line off turn 2 and pushed Clegg hard in to turn 3. Wood with mistake at the apex did well to gather it up without t-boning Clegg. After regaining momentum seemed to hold Clegg to the same lead. Worth noting for his later rides.

Heat 02: Davies, Wirtzfeld, King, McGurk. 3-3, 7-5
Line Up: Davies, McGurk, Wirtzfeld, King
Comments: Tight opening bend between the front 2 which Davies just made the best of. 4 sensible laps with Wirtzfeld never too far behind. McGurk tailed off a touch.

Heat 03: Halsey, Harris, Verge, Terry-Daley. 5-1, 12-6
Line Up: Halsey, Harris, Terry-Daley, Verge
Comments: Comfortable for the Heathens. Great scrap for the £10 point at the back. Just give them £5 each and tell them to stop fighting each other 😛

Heat 04: Morley, Smith, McGurk, King. 3-3, 15-9
Line Up: Smith, McGurk, Morley, King
Comments: Smith away and McGurk went with hum with a super first turn. Morley miles an hour faster in to turn 3 and quickly settled down to stalk Smith. Smith with a mistake turn 4 lap 2 then turn 2 lap 3 was the opportunity required and Morley cruised through for the win. Good ride by Ben. Just sat inside waiting for the opportunity. King chased hard and made ground to put a little pressure on but good steady ride by McGurk. Much better ride by him.

Heat 05: Wood, Halsey, Harris, Widman. 3-3, 18-12
Line Up: Halsey, Harris, Wood, Widman
Comments: Halsey with just the edge away from the start. Wood went level down the back straight and just got around the bottom turn. Then went well clear looking fast and classy. Widman with pressure on Harris early but Harris edged clear to take a comfortable 3rd.

Heat 06: Clegg, Morley, Spencer, Wirtzfeld. 4-2, 22-14
Line Up: Clegg, Spencer/font], Morley, Wirtzfeld
Comments: Morley with super start off 2. But didn't drop it over Clegg to cover the kerb. Clegg crept round the inside to lead off turn 2. Wirtzfeld trying hard and not too far away. Spencer with 4 safe laps takes the important odd point.

Heat 07: Smith, Terry-Daley, Verge, Davies. 3-3, 25-17
Line Up: Smith, Davies, Terry-Daley, Verge
Comments: No costly mistake by either team so the expected 3-3 keeps both teams happy for now.

Heat 08: Wirtzfeld, McGurk, Spencer, Widman. 3-3, 28-20
Line Up: Spencer, McGurk, Widman,King Wirtzfeld
Comments: IOW duo away. McGurk ride a good first turn to move inside Widman off turn 2. Spencer chasing Widman down passed inside turn 2 lap 3. Great to the our pair make passing moves. Should be confidence boosting. Wirtzfeld looked superb up front this time. Well clear and flat out. Very reminiscent off James Shanes' style.

Heat 09: Morley, Halsey, Harris. Wood (ret). 3-3, 31-23
Line Up: Halsey, Harris, Morley,Wirtzfeld] Wood
Comments: Wood tac sub.
Morley away with Halsey close. Wood missed it badly. Rode a sensible first lap to take stock. Went inside Harris in to turn 3 lap 2. Went inside Halsey same place a lap later. Bike died going in to last lap. Very unfortunate for the visitors.

Heat 10: Clegg, Verge, Terry-Daley. Spencer (ret). 3-3, 34-26
Line Up: Clegg, Spencer, Terry-Daley, Verge
Comments: Clegg away and gone. Spencer in the mix was ahead of RTD and trying to go around Verge on the first turn when he slipped off. RTD did well to miss him. Shame for Tom. Really giving it a go and just let the back end coem around too much.

Heat 11: Wood, Smith, King, Davies. 2-4, 36-30
Line Up: Smith, Davies, Wood,Widman King
Comments: Close first turn but Wood's class shows and he goes a long way clear. Importantly King rides a good race in 3rd to comfortably take an important point. IOW right in this still.

Heat 12: Halsey, Wirtzfeld, Terry-Daley, McGurk. 3-3, 39-33
Line Up: Halsey, McGurk, Terry-Daley, Wirtzfeld
Comments: Well spread out. Bit of a moment for Halsey when he lifted towards the fence but got it back under control and was clear enough to be comfortable.

Heat 13: Clegg, Morley, Smith. Wood (ret). 4-2, 43-35
Line Up: Clegg, Smith, Wood, Morley
Comments: Clegg away and gone. Morley sat 2nd all race. Wood was 3rd when he again suffered bike problems. Bike still running as he rode it back to the pits so perhaps ignition or fuel not feeding properly?? Someone more mechanically minded may know. Crucial heat for Heathens to steal an advantage.

Heat 14: Verge, King, Davies. Harris (FX). 1-5, 44-40
Line Up: Harris, Davies, Verge, King
Comments: Stopped. Harris away first but Verge with a good first turn took the lead. Harris chased but spun around and fell right in front of Davies and King. Both no chance to avoid and although relatively slow crash it was a messy one with 3 bikes and bodies a mangled mess. Glad to say they're all able to walk away because it looked one that riders can twist or over stretch something and pick up an injury. Harris excluded.
Re-Run: Verge away. Good first turn by Davies to move inside King and gently squeeze a touch to take 2nd. Next lap off turn 2 King moved inside and went clear for a vital 2nd place.
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 15: Clegg, Morley, Verge, Halsey. 3-3, 47-43
Line-up: Clegg, Halsey, Morley, Verge
Comments: Clegg away and immediately looked outside for Halsey. Rode a super opening lap and managed to get Halsey around Morley for the Heathens to sit on a 5-1. Halsey slipped off allowing the visitors to take a league point. To be fair after Wood's bike problems gifting us points it's the least IOW deserve but this is happening too often to Halsey. Great night for him up until then but so, so, frustrating.
