MEETING ABANDONED
*************************
Comments:
Teams confirmed.
Isle of Wight win the toss and take gates 1&3.
The referee is Christina Turnbull.
Heat 1: Charles Wright takes the R/R ride.
Heat 1: Gathercole lost shape on bend 2 of lap 2 and clipped the fence.
Heat 2: Race stopped. Workington were on a 5-1 when Johnson came hard under J Branney into the fence. Johnson excluded from re run.
Heat 2: Bargh from the gate. Wright came close to him a couple of times, but then faded.
Heat 3: From the gate again. Easy for the IoW pair.
Heat 4: Phillips led until Nieminen passed him on bend 3 of lap 1.
Heat 5: Johnson replaces Gathercole.
Heat 5: Holder with the fastest time of the season at Derwent Park. Workington pair couldn't gate for toffee. Hall passed C Branney on bend 4 of lap 3.
Heat 6: Wright takes the R/R ride.
Heat 6: Stoney led from bend 2 of lap 1. Wright fell just after passing Bargh on bend 3 of lap 1.
Heat 7: Good 1st bend by Nieminen to lead all the way. Bunyan got past Stojanowski bend 3 of lap 2 but left it too late to catch Nieminen.
Heat 8: Stoney in as a tac sub off 15 metres and replaces John Branney. Craig Branney takes the R/R ride. Bargh replaces Gathercole.
Heat 8: C Branney gated well. Stoney had passed IoW pair by bend 2 of lap 2.
Heat 9: Johnson replaces Bargh.
Heat 9: Unsatisfactory start - all 4 back.
KEVCFC HAS HEARD A RUMOUR THAT THE MEETING WILL BE ABANDONED AFTER HEAT 12 BECAUSE THE LIGHTS DON'T WORK!
Heat 9: Hall gated (at last) and won by miles.
Heat 10: Wright takes the R/R ride.
Heat 10: Stoney held 2nd until Bunyan rounded him on bend 2 of lap 3. Bunyan is flying tonight (texter's comments). All lights have now gone out. They only had half working before now. Kev can't see this continuing.
THERE ARE NO LIGHTS OR POWER IN THE PITS AT ALL. AN ELECTRICIAN IS ON THE CASE, BUT THE ANNOUNCER SAYS THAT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM.
The crowd are now starting to leave. The electrician is still working though.
There was a flicker of light, but it's all darkness again.
The burger van, pits and half of the flood lights are now working again.
MEETING ABANDONED DUE TO LIGHTS FAILURE.
Many thanks to my mate Kevcfc for the great texts, and to the group of you joining me tonight.
