Heat Results
Isle of Wight win the toss, taking gates 1 & 3 in Heat 1.
Heat 01: Bekker, Simmons, Day, Felton, 2-4, 2-4, 71.1
Line Up: Nick Simmons, Dean Felton, Byron Bekker, Terry Day
Comments: Good start from Felton, but trapped on inside to leave Weymouth on a 5-1. Simmons past Day on 3/4th bend, lap 3, and got closish to Bekker. Ominous start from I.o.W.
Sponsored by www.enjaydesigns.net
Heat 02: Hill, Mullins, Lee, Andrews, 5-1, 7-5, 73.1
Line Up: Rikki Mullins, Tom Hill, Richard Andrews, Nick Lee
Comments: Islanders gate well, and to quote the ref, Tom Hill rode a perfect first bend! Mullins comfortably in 2nd, Wemouth half a lap behind. Texter is feeling better now!
Sponsored by Steve Dixon www.stevedixonphotography.co.uk [/b]
Heat 03: Warwick, Day, Johnson, Cottham, 4-2, 11-7, 70.8
Line Up: Danny Warwick, Brendan Johnson, R/R - Terry Day, Gary Cottham
Comments: Cottham's bike died at the start, excluded under 2 minutes - out on 15 metre handicap. Great start from Warwick, but ragged first bend meant they all bucked and reared. Day a distant 2nd, with Johnson trying hard in 3rd. Cottham never recovered from handicapped start

Heat 04: Cockle, Hopwood, Hill, Lee, 3-3, 14-10, 70.6
Line Up: Ben Hopwood, Tom Hill, James Cockle, Nick Lee
Comments: Hopwood just getting the edge from the tapes, with Cockle presing hard on outside, going past on 4th bend. Hill a comfortable, if lonely 3rd, with Lee looking plain lost!
Sponsored by Friends of Edinburgh Speedway www.foes.info/
Heat 05: Warwick, Bekker, Johnson, Day, 4-2, 18-12, 70.7
Line Up: Danny Warwick, Brendan Johnson, Byron Bekker, Terry Day
Comments: Good start from Bekker into lead, until Warwick speeds round outside on 4th bend, balls of steel! Only to be re-passed going into lap 2. He then does exactly the same on bend 4 lap 2 to retake the lead! Bekker never far away, and Johnson overcoming a few hairy moments to keep 3rd from Day, fantastic racing from front 2!
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 06: Simmons, Cockle, Felton, Andrews, 4-2, 22-14, 71.7
Line Up: Nick Simmons, Dean Felton, James Cockle, Richard Andrews
Comments: Superb gate from Cockle, Simmons nowhere. Stayed close to him though, and the noise of his exhaust pipe was enough to force Cockle into a big mistake on 2nd bend, 3rd lap, as Smmons powered through! Seemed to affect Cockle as Felton got close in 3rd, missing out by a wheel on the line.

Heat 07: Hopwood, Bekker, Cottham, Mullins, 3-3, 25-17, 71.7
Line Up: Ben Hopwood, Rikki Mullins, R/R - Byron Bekker, Gary Cottham
Comments: Hopwood with a storming start, getting excellent traction up the back straight! Mullins away slowly, but hassled Cottham hard, before sliding gently into 1st bend fence at start of last lap.
Sponsored by Merlin
Heat 08: Day, Felton, Hill, Lee, 3-3, 28-20 ,71.8
Line Up: Dean Felton, Tom Hill, Terry Day, Nick Lee
Comments: Hill jumped at tapes, and caught them as they went up, and is excluded. Unfortunately Day went through them, but caught them under his helmet, who dropped off his bike on start line, clutching his neck. Up on his feet, walking back to the pits holding his nose, possibly his helmet being rocked back, unusual one. Hill going off 15 metre handicap. Good gate from Felton into lead. Hill quickly onto Lee, and passed him on 4th bend lap 2, as Day was going outside Felton on the 1st bend, lap 3. Hill closer to leaders than Lee by the end.

Heat 09: Cockle, Warwick, Johnson, Andrews, 3-3, 31-23, 70.9
Line Up: Danny Warwick, Brendan Johnson, James Cockle, Richard Andrews
Comments: Good gate from Cockle, looking over and blocking Warwick. Warwick steaming into the bends, although never really challenging. Andrews miles back!

Heat 10: Simmons, Cottham, Cockle, 3-3, 34-26, 72.0
Line Up: Nick Simmons, Dean Felton, R/R - James Cockle, Gary Cottham
Comments: Felton rolling towards tapes, turned his wheel sideways by the time the tapes went up, but then slid off and stayed down on 1st bend, and is excluded from rerun for his troubles. Simmons had gated appallingly badly again. Medic now on track, Felton feeling rough before meeting after his altercation with Newports safety fence!
Short Interval now being taken as Felton being attended to.
Felton apparently knocked the same elbow that took a knock at Newport, was quite painful, so thats why he stayed down.
Re-Run: 3 Riders Only - no Felton.
4 starts, 4 missed gates for Simmons! Just about holds onto 2nd, then chases Cockle, but looks like being out of luck, until Cockle fell right in front of Simmons, who did well to avoid him, and take the win! Cockle pushed him for 3rd.

Heat 11: Bekker, Day, Hopwood, Mullins, 5-1, 35-31, 70.2
Line Up: Ben Hopwood, Rikki Mullins, Byron Bekker, Terry Day
Comments: Weymouth gate a 5-1, which is how it stayed on a dusting track.
Sponsored by
Heat 12: Warwick, Cottham, Hill, Andrews, 4-2, 39-33, 70.7
Line Up: Danny Warwick, Tom Hill, R/R - Gary Cottham, Richard Andrews
Comments: Awful gate from Hill, but he struggles past Andrews on bend 2, lap 2. Warwick out in front, with Cottham keeping him honest.

Heat 13: Bekker, Simmons, Hopwood, Cockle F, 3-3, 42-36, A
Line Up: Nick Simmons, Ben Hopwood, Byron Bekker, James Cockle
Comments: Simmons misses gate again, as does Hopwood for a Weymouth 5-1. But Cockle takes a dive into the fence on bend 1, lap 3, and stays down. Bekker was well clear at time, race awarded. Cockle still down, medics in attendance. Cockle back in pits, possibly banged his head, but up and conscious, slight delay whilst he gets checked out.

Heat 14: Johnson, Cottham, Hill, Lee, 4-2, 46-38, 72.9
Line Up: Brendan Johnson,Rikki Mullins Tom Hill, Gary Cottham, Nick Lee
Comments: Tom Hill reserve replacement for Rikki Mullins. Cottham demolished the tapes, 5 Laps Les proper upset, has to rebuild his tapes! Cottham going off 15m, to be honest, could go from a lap behind and do better than Andrews and Lee!
Cockle out of the meeting with a sore neck, nothing serious.
Re-Run: Islanders gate into a 5-1 (shock, horror!) and Cottham sets after Hill. Gets past him a bit too easily down back straight, before missing out on Johnson by a few yards.
Sponsored by [/b]
Heat 15: Warwick, Simmons, Day, Bekker, 5-1, 51-39, 70.8
Line-up: Danny Warwick, Nick Simmons, Byron Bekker, Terry Day
Comments: Cracking gate from Warwick takes him into the lead, with a shoddy Simmons gate somehow taking into a close 2nd, with Bekker very close in 3rd. Bekker lost interest and is cruising at back. Good race from I.o.W. persepctive.
