Heat Results
Bronze Helmet Race: Cockle beats Starke
Line Up: Paul Starke (Gate 1) vs James Cockle (Gate 3)
Comments: From Gate
Heat 01: Hughes, Starke, Kerr, Smith 2-4 69.7
Line Up: Starke, Smith, Hughes, Kerr
Comments: Stars gate, but Starke splits them on 2nd bend, Smith out of a rather soggy looking gate 1! From gate, strung out.
Sponsored by www.enjaydesigns.co.uk
Heat 02: Rayson, Chessell, Stokes, Cottham 2-4 4-8 73.4
Line Up: Chessell, Cottham, Stokes, Rayson
Comments: I.o.W.'s turn to gate, but Cottham gets passed by both on the 1st/2nd bend. Rayson looking quick in 3rd, and is constantly trying to pass his team mate, which makes for nervous viewing, but eventually he gets past, and reels in Chessell, passing him on the line!
Sponsored by Steve Dixon www.stevedixonphotography.co.uk [/b]
Heat 03: Knight, Smethills, Campos, Johnson 2-4 6-12 69.6
Line Up: Smethills, Johnson, Campos, Knight
Comments: Brendan has a set-to with the start marshal over the appalling state of gate 1, but eventually gates well enough, but is only 3rd behind Knight and his team-mate, and things quickly get worse for him, as he is passed by Campos. Could be a long night for the Islanders.

Heat 04: Simmons, Cockle, Cottham, Rayson 4-2 10-14 70.6
Line Up: Simmons, Cottham, Cockle, Rayson
Comments: Cottham with a bullet start from the inside, but passed by Cockle and Simmons on 3rd bend. Nick really pressurising Cockle at the front, inside, then outside, cutting up the inside on the 2nd bend last time round, diving up the inside on the 3rd bend, keeping Cockle wide, and taking the win!
Sponsored by Friends of Edinburgh Speedway www.foes.info/
Heat 05: Hughes, Smethills, Kerr, Johnson 2-4 12-18 71.8
Line Up: Smethills, Johnson, Hughes, Kerr
Comments: Kerr has a nibble at the start, but does him no favours with an awful gate. Hughes streaks into the lead tho, and Kerr keeps low on 2nd bend to nip inside Brendan. From gate
Sponsored by Splod
Heat 06: Starke, Cockle, Stokes, Smith 3-3 15-21 71.4
Line Up: Starke, Smith, Cockle, Stokes
Comments: Cockle gated well, although reared up which allowed Starke and Smith to match him. Starke hit the front though, and is working a aggressive outside line to stay in front, whilst Rob Smith is mixing it up at the back to try and pass Stokes, but to no avail
Sponsored by
Heat 07: Re-run Simmons, Campos, Chessell, Knight ret 4-2 19-23 71.4
Line Up: Simmons, Chessell, Campos, Knight
Comments: Unsatisfactory start, riders on outside seemed to be twitchy, Chessell with a warning.
Nick away so slowly, but has a blinding 1st bend around the inside to lead. Unfamiliar territory with Luke Chessel being in 2nd for the I.o.W., and with Knight retiring on the 4th bend, we are sure of a ht advantage! Campos all over the back of Luke, who locks up on the last bend, allowing him thru for 2nd place.
Sponsored by Merlin
Gary Cottham has withdrawn from the meeting with a Sore Knee.
Heat 08: Kerr, Smith, Rayson, Chessell ret 2-4 21-27 71.6
Line Up: Smith, Chessell, Kerr, Rayson
Comments: Kerr away well, with Smith chasing hard. Chessell started well, but had a moment on 3rd bend to drop back, maybe mechanical as he retired on next lap. Rayson trying every move (and making up a few new ones) to try and get past Smith, but failed
Sponsored by
Heat 09: Cockle, Smethills, Johnson, Stokes fell 3-3 24-30
Line Up: Smethills, Johnson, Cockle, Stokes
Comments: Cockle away on inside, Smethills on outside, and its those 2 who lead from Brendan, who can't gate at all tonight! Dust from bends 1 and 3 now, only to be expected with the threat of a thunderstorm, whilst Tom Stokes had an off on the 3rd bend, 3rd lap, and did very well to clear the track to let the race continue.

Heat 10: Starke, Smith, Campos, Knight 5-1 29-31 71.2
Line Up: Starke, Smith, Campos, Knight
Comments: Starke away well, Smith also at front, with Campos trying around the outside of bend 4, and again on lap 2, and again on lap 3, not bothering on lap 4, 5-1 to I.o.W

Interval
Heat 11: Simmons, Hughes, Kerr, Chessell 3-3 32-34 71.6
Line Up: Simmons, Chessell, Hughes, Kerr
Comments: Hughes tried to clamp Nick on the white line, but Nick having none of it and muscles past to lead. From gate.
Sponsored by
Heat 12: Campos, Smethills, Stokes, Chessell 2-4 34-38 72.3
Line Up: Smethills, Chessell, Campos, Stokes
Comments: Campos like a startled deer from gate 4 to lead, with Lee Smethills giving chase. From gate
Sponsored by
Heat 13: Simmons, Hughes, Starke, Cockle 4-2 38-40 71.1
Line Up: Starke, Simmons, Hughes, Cockle
Comments: Nick from the gate, but Huges gets into 2nd ahead of Starke, with Cockle at the rear. From gate, on a slick and dusty track.
Sponsored by Art and Stitch for all your sewing and art supplies www.artandstitch.co.uk [/b]
Heat 14: Johnson, Rayson, Knight, Chessell fell 3-3 41-43 71.9
Line Up: Johnson, Chessell, Knight, Rayson
Comments: Brendan makes a gate! and Luke Chessell follows him into 2nd, before coming down on the apex of the 3rd/4th bends He's up and ok though. Brendan doing well to hold off a fast Olly Rayson, about 2 bike lenghts in it on the line
Sponsored by Splod [/b]
Heat 15: Simmons, Starke, Hughes, Cockle ret 5-1 46-44 71.6
Line-up: Starke, Simmons, Cockle, Hughes
Comments: Tight from the gate, but the I.o.W. emerge in front, only for Cockle to split them going into 3rd bend, but coming down back straight Starke goes outside him to regain 2nd and the 5-1 position. In fact, they streaked clear to seal the points, to a hoooooge cheer from the above average crowd!
