Heat Results[/u]
Heat 01: Armstrong, Ritchings, Herne, Young 5-1
Line Up: Armstrong, Ritchings, Herne, Young
Comments: Heathens off 1 and 3.
stopped. Armstrong roller but missed it. All 4 back. Slice of luck for the Heathens.
Herne missed it badly. Ritchings passed Young back straight. Young then skid off turn 3 lap 1. Generous applause for him as he clears the track when he could have got it stopped for Herne to get another chance. Herne chased hard but never in a position to pass.

Heat 02: Johnson, Andrews, Gough, Portwood F 3-3 8-4
Line Up: Portwood, Johnson, Andrews, Gough
Comments: Portwood fell turn 2 lap 1. Tapes to flag for Bren. Gough almost hit the turn 4 air fence lap 3.
Sponsored by Steve Dixon www.stevedixonphotography.co.uk
Heat 03: Perry, Morris, Williams, Bates F 5-1 13-5
Line Up: Perry, Morris, Williams, Bates
Comments: Stopped. Unsatisfactory start. Morris and Williams banged elbows badly right from the tapes rising. Ref banged the red lights on before they even got to the turn.
Re run - Bates fell turn 3 lap 1 when 3rd. Heathens in a class of their own. Literally the full length of the straight clear after a couple of laps. Lovely team riding too. Morris inside Perry outside. Looking for each other all the time. Good stuff from two inexperienced riders.

Heat 04: Kurtz, Newman, Johnson 3-3 16- 8
Line Up: Newman, Johnson, Kurtz, Gough
Comments: Stopped. Gough crashed into the turn 2 fence lap 1. All on his own. Will be discluded. Meanwhile it was a hard first turn by Newman to move Kurtz out of the way. Gough being treated.
Newman gated and covered Kurtz well on turn 2. He then seemed to forget he was there on turn 3 and 4 and allowed Kurtz an easy run around him. Nice line and clean pass by Kurtz though. He looked quick and smooth

Heat 05: Herne, Morris, Perry, Young 3-3 19-11
Line Up: Perry, Morris, Herne, Young
Comments: Herne had to shake off Perry back straight lap 1. Heathens had to swap places for their favoured lines then set about challenging Herne with one either side. Herne edged clear in the last couple of laps. Perry dropped off the pace in the end. Not sure if he lost momentum through slight error or the bike slowed a bit.

Heat 06: Kurtz, Armstrong, Ritchings, Andrews 3-3 22-14
Line Up: Armstrong, Ritchings, Kurtz, Andrews
Comments: Easy FTG by half the straight. Well spread.

Heat 07: Newman, Bates, Williams, Portwood 3-3 25-17
Line Up: Newman, Portwood, Williams, Bates
Comments: Stopped. Williams roller.
FTG well spread. This might be nonsense but Portwood looks to me as though he's learnt to ride on a bigger track. Monmore is gonna be a tough ask for a while I think.

Heat 08: Young, Ritchings, Johnson, Andrews 3-3 28-20
Line Up: Ritchings, Johnson, Young,Gough Andrews
Comments: Awful start and first turn by Ritchings. Dead last but got around Andrews then Johnson on lap 1 and 2 respectively. Set about chasing Young but had left himself too much to do. One more lap would habe made it interesting as he was just a couple of bike lengths down and it was close for 3rd.

Heat 09: Perry, Kurtz, Morris, Andrews 4-2 32-22
Line Up: Perry, Morris, Kurtz, Andrews
Comments: What a ride by Perry. Kurtz crept inside Morris turn 1 and 2 lap 1 and looked as though he'd pass Perry inside back straight lap 1 but Perry got his wheels in the dirt and came off turn 4 in front and cleared off for the win. Fastest time of the night by a second and only about 3 tenths outside Smart's NL track record. Morris on the pace and chasing hard but never in a position to pass

Heat 10: Armstrong, Ritchings, Williams, Bates 5-1 37-23
Line Up: Armstrong, Ritchings, Williams, Bates
Comments: Armo rounded the field first turn and went clear. Ritchings round Bates turn 4 lap 1 then went after WW. Tried inside and outside. Almost slid across the slick into WW on turn 1 and 2 lap 3 and lost ground. Switched back to the outside and regained ground and passed around the outside turn 2 lap 4. Great ride by Darryl.

Heat 11: Newman, Herne, Young, Portwood 3-5 40-28
Line Up: Newman, Portwood, HERNE, Young
Comments: Herne T/R
Very hard by Newman first turn but no contact so all's fair in love, war and speedway. Just as Herne was lining Newman up for likely pass he seemed to go over the camber on turn 2 where the old fence used to be. Almost got too close to it and lost ground regaining his line. Portwood looked better at the back but way off the pace after a good reaction at the start.

Line Up: Perry, Johnson, Williams, Andrews
Comments: Flying start by Johnson and very good pace up front. Very easy max for the Heathens.

Heat 13: Kurtz Herne Newman Armstrong 1-8 46-37
Line Up: Armstrong, Newman, Herne, Kurtz
Comments: Tac ride for Kurtz
No mistakes by the league's big-hitters this time. Easy max. Newman chasing hard. Armstrong went into fuel saving mode on the last lap by rolling around. He wad way off the pace anyway

Heat 14: Morris, Andrews, Johnson, Bates 4-2 50-39
Line Up: Morris, Johnson, Bates,Gough Andrews
Comments: Stopped. I think both Heathens were a bit eager lol Stopped. Johnson looked like his clutch was dragging. He did NOT touch the tapes but ref discluded him for delaying the start. Shocking decision because Bren missed the start and was dead last going to the first turn. The only person delaying the start is the ref. Bren goes off 15m
Attempt 3 and Bates is discluded for exceding the 2 mins. Suddenly its all got rather silly. Bates also off 15m

Heat 15: Herne, Newman, Kurtz, Perry 2-4 52-43
Line Up: Newman, Perry, Herne, Kurtz.
Comments: What a race to end with. Herne tapes to flag. Kurtz went with him but Newman not far behind. Kurtz pushing Newman out turn 3 and 4 lap 1 but Newman refused to back off. He tucked his elbows in took a deep breath and squeezed between Kurtz and the fence. Kurtz was desperate to get back through and was all over Newman. Meanwhile Perry was building speed and on the last lap and half he was all over Kurtz. Very close between the 3 on the run to the line.
