Sweetman gated from Jakobsen but Rymel passed Jakobsen on the second lap. Unfortunately for Berwick, Sweetman never once looked for his partner and rode home in first place costing Berwick a point.

Line up: Piszcz, Watson, Rymel, Clews - Birmingham were on a 5-1 with Watson leading and Rymel last when, on the second lap, Clews dived hard under Piszcz and passed him but Piszcz soon repassed. Clews did it again and both riders came down. The referee came down to study the video replay and then excluded Clews for taking Piszcz's leg away. Since two laps had not been completed the race will have to be rerun. Both Piszcz and Clews are up and seem to be OK.

Line-up: Craig Watson, Jason Lyons, Adrian Rymel, Michal Makovsky - Nasty accident on the second bend. Watson was leading with Lyons coming round the outside to join him when Rymel just seemed to 'lose his way' from the inside and shot across the track almost collecting Lyons in the process. He crashed into the fence and went down heavily. The ambulance was called and Rymel was given oxygen and and gas but eventually got to his feet and walked back to the pits. He has been excluded from the rerun. In the rerun Lyons and Watson led but Makovsky passed Watson on the second lap only for Watson to regain second place with a spectacular sweep round the boards on the 3rd and 4th bends.

Teams have now been confirmed. Richard Sweetman replaces Tamas Sike at number 2 for Berwick.
Since the texter, Bev, also runs the track shop, updates are likely to be every two heats or so. So please have patience or I'll cast a spell on you and you'll get warts in a place you won't like (unless you've already got them there of course!).
Birmingham are off gates 1 and 3 in heat 1 so it's column A.
