Charlie “The Edge” Venegas showedeveryone why has won more main events in the eight-year history of IndustrySpeedway by capturing top honors on Fan Appreciation Night.
The former National Champion startedin gate two and beat his competitors into turn one. Jimmy “Little Animal” Fishback led the chargebehind the leader but Venegas immediately began to put distance between himselfand his competitors. He stretched hislead with each successive lap and cruised to victory. Fishback finished second, Austin Novratil wasthird, “Fast” Eddie Castro finished fourth, and Bobby “Boogaloo” Schwartz wasfifth.
The evening began on a sour note asa crash involving Michael Raines in the first heat resulted in the young riderbeing transported to a local hospital. Fortunately, he was released early the next day after suffering aconcussion.
Novratil won the restart of thefirst heat over Shawn “Mad Dog” McConnell. Venegas began his evening with a win over Jason Ramirez. Schwartz ended round one by defeatingFishback.
Round two began with McConnellcollecting his first win by defeating Castro. Fishback beat Venegas in the next heat for his first win. John “Mongoose” Marquez led the last heat ofthe second round for two laps before Novratil went by and took his second win.
Fishback opened the final round ofheats by beating Novratil for his second straight win. McConnell made it two in a row with a victoryover Ramirez. Venegas ended the heatraces by defeating Aaron Fox for his second win.
Fishback and Novratil finishedone-two in the first semi and transferred to the main event. Venegas handily won the second semi whileMcConnell, who was running second, began to suffer bike problems on the finallap and Castro passed him on the outside to steal the transfer. Schwartz won the Last Chance to fill thefinal spot in the main event.
Rocco Scopellite trapped the fieldfrom the outside at the start and dominated the Second Division Main Event forthe second week in a row. Brandon Leedyfinished second, Carl Gazafy was third, and Mike Salyer finished fourth.
Kip McClain led from start to finishen route to victory in the Third Division Main Event. Kevin Fife finished second and Rick Howardwas third.
Max Ruml ran away with the Youth250cc Main Event for the second consecutive week with Dillon Ruml finishingsecond and Nick Varner coming in third.
Varner led the Youth 200cc FirstDivision Main Event for three laps, but suffered an engine failure on the finallap which handed the victory to Broc Nicol. Dillon Ruml finished second, Dalton Leedy was third, and Varner was creditedwith fourth.
Sebastian Palmese led the Youth200cc Second Division Main Event through the first corner, but Shea Bendykowskitook over the lead and never looked back. Bendykowski earned his second straight victory, Palmese hung on tosecond, Gino Scopellite finished third, and Michael Wells was fourth.
Alyssa Smith earned a very popular victorywith a wire-to-wire Pee Wee Main Event win. Dylan Smith finished second, Dominic Laney was third, Tristan Brittfinished fourth, Luke Whitcomb was fifth, and Walker Calvo finished sixth.
The Grand Marshall for FanAppreciation Night was two-time World Champion Bruce Penhall who signedautographs for fans. Next week’s eventat Industry Speedway is the 50cc Grand Arena Championship.
