I've just read that Claus Vissing has signed for Somerset effectively meaning all 7 of Glasgow riders as doubling up or, in the case of Jack Thomas, down. This, plus overseas commitments has to take a toll both physically and mentally on riders and although I appreciate they have to earn an income, surely it must be a vicious circle as the more they ride they more it must cost them on machinery and any extra income is being spent keeping the bikes going.
Fans must now be wondering how a rider can give 100% to a team when he has taken on a further role with other teams. Fans of every team are now getting a diluted product and it safety must be considered.
There have been many issues that have led to the downfall of British speedway but the doubling up/down facility is going to be the final nail in the coffin imo. Anyone care to share their thoughts?

Seems to me there is no choice, not enough riders, some tracks would have to close and don't think we would want that.

Said it when it started still say it to this day Doubling up should be for British riders only if the Foreign riders don't like it don't come over.

In total ignorance here, if doubling up was banned tomorrow would there be enough riders to fill two divisions ? I can't think of many riders who want to ride in the UK, have the appropriate work permit, and are sitting on the sidelines waiting for a call. I'm amazed Justin Sedgmen hasn't had a call even though I realize he's not everyones cup of tea. I did hear of moves afoot to try and revive a few state titles in Australia to give a few more riders the chance of a work permit but at absolute most that's potentially another six available riders, even though at first they would probably only be at the level of second string / reserve in the second tier in the UK.
