Heat Results
Heat 01: Simmons, Atkin, Starke, Berwick 3-3, 67.7
Line Up: Simmons, R/R Berwick, Atkin, Starke
Comments: Berwick is the Islanders r/r in heat 1. Simmons made a flyer but Berwick didn't make as good a start. Simmons raced away to win by a big margin with the other riders well spread out. Simmons breaks the NL track record with his time!!

Heat 02: Hill, Gough, Berwick, Dingle 4-2;7-5, 72.8
Line Up: Berwick, Hill, Dingle, Gough
Comments: Devils gated but Hill swooped around them both on the second bend. Berwick then went around the outside of Dingle on the 1st bend of lap 2 and set after catching Gough. He did catch the Welshmen but it was just after they had crossed the finish line.

Heat 03: Wright, Stephens, Hopwood, Bates 4-2; 11-7, 71.4
Line Up: Wright, Hopwood, Bates, Stephens
Comments: Islanders made the best gate but Stephens went around the outside of bends 1 and 2 to take the lead. However Islanders debutant Matt Wright then re-passed Stephens on the 3rd-4th bends of same lap to lead where he stayed. Hopwood challenged Stephens throughout the race but couldn't do enough. Bates made an awful gate!

Heat 04: Johnson, Hughes, Dingle, Hill 3-3; 14-10, 71.6
Line Up: Johnson, Hill, Hughes, Gough
Comments: Gough misses the 2 minutes and is replaced by Dingle for Plymouth. Johnson arrow-like from the gate and into the lead with Hughes not far behind, after he had overtaken his team mate on the back straight of lap 1. Hill stuck at the back, baulked by both Devils on bends 3 and 4 on 2nd lap.

Heat 05: Atkin, Hopwood, Wright, Starke 3-3; 17-13, 71.3
Line Up: Wright, Hopwood, Atkin, Starke
Comments: Atkin from the tapes into a comfortable lead. Fairly spread out from the gate.

Heat 06: Simmons, Hughes, Hill, Dingle 4-2; 21-15, 69.6
Line Up: Simmons, R/R Hill, Hughes, Dingle
Comments: Hill takes the r/r ride for the Islanders. Very even gate. With the Islanders holding a 4-2 advantage, which is how it stayed. Very spread out.

Heat 07: Johnson, Stephens, Bates, Berwick 3-3; 24-18, 71.7
Line Up: Johnson, Berwick, Bates, Stephens
Comments: Johnson out-gated Mr lightening gate, and held off a good challenge on the back straight of lap 1. Berwick trying hard but not getting anywhere.

Heat 08: Re-run: Starke, Hill, Gough 2-4; 26-22, 73.0
Line Up: R/R Johnson, Hill, Starke, Gough
Comments: Johnson takes the r/r for the home side. Johnson gated but was under lots of pressure going down the back straight and into bends 3 and 4 from Starke. He had very little room on the outside and its debatable whether or not there was any contact. Johno reared up alarmingly, came off the back of his bike as it smashed into almost the same spot that Simmons crashed into last Thursday, whilst Johnson himself hit the top of the fence before coming to rest on the home straight. Ambulance and medic on track, more details as and when. Johnson has been excluded as the primary cause of the stoppage, Starke not to blame in Buck Rogers opinion, just very close racing. It looked as if Johno picked up some drive. INTERVAL BEING TAKEN NOW.
Re-run: Tight 1st bend, Hill went around the outside of Gough for second, behind Starke. Gough applied plenty of pressure up the inside of Hill, but Hill held 2nd by a tires width on the line.

Heat 09: Re-run: Wright, Dingle, Hopwood ret 3-2; 29-24, 73.8
Line Up: Wright, Hopwood, Hughes, Dingle
Comments: Great gate by the Islanders but Hughes cut across Hopwood causing him to slide into the fence. Up straight away though. Hughes excluded from the re-run. In Buck Rogers humble opinion the decision was harsh on Hughes.
Re-run: Again a brilliant gate by the Islanders pair but less than 10 metres from the start line Hopwood sheds a chain, in a flurry of sparks. Wright well clear for an unusual 3-2.

Heat 10: Re-run: Simmons, Stephens, Bates 3-3; 32-27, 71.2
Line Up: Simmons, R/R Hill, Bates, Stephens
Comments: Simmons like a scalded cat from the tapes, with Hill at the back trying hard. Hill then took a pearler going into the 3rd bend. He sat up after the crash but medics attending to him on track. Hill excluded from the re-run. Although 3 laps hadnt been completed given the time and tonights circumstances Buck Rogers would've awarded it given Simmons was about half a lap in front. But then he is only a lowly music man and texter!
Slight delay as 2 kickboards need to be replaced so Bryn's hopes of making the 10 o clock ferry have failed miserably.
Apparantly a text message from Brendan Johnson in hospital has just been read out to the crowd and it appears he is in good spirits.
Update - Tom has been taken off the track in an ambulance but is not going off to hospital yet, but it has been announced that he is complaining of some neck pain so all precautions have been taken. More official news will follow from Bryn in the morning.
Re-run: Simmons from the tapes and won by half a lap, Buck Rogers thinks thats only fair given he led by miles 1st time around.

Heat 11: Atkin, Starke, Berwick 1-5; 33-32, 72.2
Line Up: Johnson, Berwick, Atkin, Starke
Comments: 3 riders only as Johnson and Hill have been withdrawn and the number 8 is only eligible to take r/r rides. All 3 gate level but the Devils then clear off for a 5-1.

Heat 12: Bates, Wright, Gough, Berwick 2-4; 35-36, 71.9
Line Up: Wright, Hill Berwick, Bates, Dingle Gough
Comments: Berwick replaces Hill for the Islanders and Gough replaces Dingle for the Devils. Bates gated and was away. Close between Berwick and Gough at the back but Gough just about hung on!

Tom Hill is now being transferred into a county ambulance, which is going to take more than 10 minutes and as the curfew is 10pm at the very latest, the meeting is now abandoned. As 12 heats have been completed the result stands! Therefore Plymouth take their first away win of the season albeit in difficult circumstances.

Teams confirmed from trackside.
Ref is the one and only Barbara Horley
Weather is good, looked a little threatening earlier, maybe a quick shower. Track looks good, smooth and dampish.
Crowd is flocking in and Buck Rogers has just had burger and chips, which he said was lovely. Everything looking good for a cracking night and even better with the good news on Brendan.
The bread pudding has now arrived and is oven-warm! Buck Rogers is now happy!!
Chris Johnson has been withdrawn from the meeting, he has gone off in the county ambulance. No official news on injuries yet!
Update - Bryn has just announced over the tannoy that Chris has gone to hospital with a hip injury. More updates and announcements will be made tomorrow by Bryn.
Another update - Tom Hill has been withdrawn from the meeting through injury.
Thankyou to Buck Rogers for the excellent information on what has been a very difficult night, best wishes to Chris and Tom, hopefully their injuries aren't too serious. Bryn will be releasing more information on them both in the morning.
Thanks and goodnight.
