Heat 01: Jones, Simmonds, Atkin, Wright 2-4, 52.50
Line Up: Mark Simmonds,R/R Matt Wright, Tony Atkin, Mark Jones
Comments: Matt Wright takes the r/r ride for the Devils. Even break from the tapes but Jones came out of the 1st and 2nd turns in front, Simmonds could only chase and never really got close. Jones very impressive!! Atkin passed Wright on lap 3.

Heat 02: Re-run: Pickard, Young, White-Williams, Berwick 3-3; 5-7, 56.00
Line Up: Dan Berwick, Jaimie Pickard, Tom Young, James White-Williams
Comments: Unsatisfactory start, White-Williams jumped the start, all 4 back. Re-run: Pickard from the gate and won by a distance, he cruised on the final lap as he was that far in front. Berwick was lying 3rd but at the end of lap 2 he seemed to have engine problems allowing White-Williams through.

Heat 03: Kurtz, Newman, Starke, Wright 1-5; 6-12, 55.60
Line Up: Paul Starke, Matt Wright, Kyle Newman, Todd Kurtz
Comments: Even break from the tapes but the Newport pair make the best of the 1st turn. Starke was trying hard but was getting filled in with every turn and had no chance really. Wright awful at the back. Craneman can only see one team winning this at the moment and it aint the Devils!!

Heat 04: Re-run x3: Stephens, Pickard, Young 5-1; 11-13, 56.37
Line Up: Seemond Stephens, Jaimie Pickard,Tim Webster, James White-Williams Tom Young
Comments: Unsatisfactory start. White-Williams was at the 1st turn before the tapes even lifted! All 4 back! Re-run: Stopped, Stephens leading as Webster tried to go around the Plymouth skipper on bend 3 of lap 1 but fell in the process. Up and ok but discluded. Re-run x2: Stopped again!! White-Williams tried another flier but this time destroys the tapes, Young replaces him. Re-run x3: Predictably from the gate. Young tried hard but had no chance really. Conditions really tough and the racing is very processional right now!

Heat 05: Atkin, Starke, Jones, Wright 2-4; 13-17, 54.81
Line Up: Paul Starke, Matt Wright, Tony Atkin, Mark Jones
Comments: Jones did a brilliant job to clamp Starke on the 1st turn allowing Atkin around the outside. Starke managed to pass Jones on bend 4 lap 1, but had no chance of catching Atikn who won by about a quarter of a lap! Wright was abysmal at the back again!!

****Referee, team managers and riders meeting on the track about the conditions, riders not happy with a few things.****
****Racing will continue****
Heat 06: Webster, Simmonds, Young, Pickard 2-4; 15-21, 54.85
Line Up: Mark Simmonds,R/R Jaimie Pickard, Tim Webster, Tom Young
Comments: Pickard is the devils r/r. Simmonds made the gate but Webster went straight around him on 2nd bend of 1st lap. At the back Young and Pickard had a good tussle but Pickard fell whilst challenging for 3rd.

Heat 07: Kurtz, Stephens, Newman, Berwick 2-4; 17-25, 55.03
Line Up: Seemond Stephens, Dan Berwick, Kyle Newman, Todd Kurtz
Comments: Stephens gated but Kurtz came around the outside of him on the opening turn. Stephens tried to take Kurtz out wide but the Aussie snuck through the smallest of gaps to win comfortably in the end. Berwick's bike not sounding very good!

Heat 08: Starke, Jones, Pickard, White-Williams 4-2; 21-27, 55.63
Line Up:R/R Paul Starke, Jaimie Pickard, Mark Jones, James White-Williams
Comments: Starke is the r/r for the Devils. Starke gated and was the first Plymouth rider tonight to attack the track. Good job too as Jones had a real go at the Devils rider. Jones is impressing Craneman tonight. At the back Pickard and White-Williams had a good battle for the 1st lap before Pickard passed the Newport man on bend 4. White-Williams then fell on bend 1 of lap 2. Best race of the night!

Heat 09: Re-run x2: Starke, White-Williams 3-2; 24-29, AWD
Line Up: Paul Starke,Matt Wright Jaimie Pickard, Tim Webster, Tom Young James White-Williams
Comments: Wright and Young both penalised for tapes offences, Craneman not sure why! Both replaced by Pickard and White-Williams respectively. Lots of confusion as to where they will start from as the announcer seemed to think White-Williams would be off 15 metres. Sorted now though and all 4 will go off the start line. Re-run: Webster gates but Starke under him bend 2 of lap 1 only for Webster to then go around Starke on the following bend. Meanwhile at the back Pickard who was 3rd fell on his own on bend 2 of lap 3. White-Williams then ran into him and fell. Both up and ok but Pickard discluded. Re-run x 2: Horrible crash!! Starke leading entering the 2nd lap with Webster chasing. Webster then seemed to straighten and go steaming into the 1st bend fence, (Craneman thinks his throttle jammed or he picked up a whole load of drive). He tried to bail out but couldn't in time. He hit the fence very hard and his bike then landed on top of him, paramedics seeing to him on track now. Webster is moving but lying on the track. Remarkably Tim is up and walking back to the pits but looks very jaded. Craneman would be surprised if Tim rides again tonight. ****Racing suspended as the officials of both sides have another meeting about track conditions with the referee. Craneman reckons the track resembles a ploughed field!! Track work going on but unsure as to whether the meeting will continue.**** In all the confusion the referee has awarded the race with the two finishers that were on track at the time. Racing now contiunes!

Heat 10: Simmonds, Kurtz, Newman, Berwick 3-3; 27-32, 55.85
Line Up: Mark Simmonds,R/R Dan Berwick, Kyle Newman, Todd Kurtz
Comments: Berwick is the r/r. Great first turn from Simmonds to go around the lot. Kurtz kept him honest but Simmonds held on well. Berwick poor at the back and joins Wright on the list of wannabe Sunday drivers!

Heat 11: Re-run:Jones, Atkin, Berwick 1-5; 28-37, 55.85
Line Up:Seemond Stephens, Dan Berwick, Tony Atkin, Mark Jones
Comments: In all Craneman's time at speedway he has never seen anything as bizarre as this! Stephens gated, led into the first turn but then pulled a locker. The bike reared up and he ended up simply stepping off the back of it! Very strange, but he is discluded from the re-run. Re-run: From the gate. Newport pair by a postcode! They even had their own little race up front and looked like they were enjoying themselves.

Heat 12: Newman, Young, Pickard 1-5; 29-42, AWD
Line Up: Paul Starke, Jaimie Pickard, Kyle Newman, Tom Young
Comments: Newman was leading with Starke all over the back of him. Entering the final lap Starke picked up loads of speed, went up the inside of Newman and took him out. Accidental but discluded. Race then awarded!

Teams confirmed.
19:00 - Craneman has arrived! He says the track is very very wet and there are a couple of puddles. The ref and riders have done 3 track inspections just in the time he has been there!! No engines have been started yet, but the riders have started to go in and get changed. Looking at the sky Craneman reckons the rain may blow through enough to get the meeting on! (Yes he is a weatherman in his spare time!) Fingers crossed it's on but at the moment it's 50/50!
19:12 - Rain has stopped, riders are changed and bikes are warming up. Craneman thinks at the moment it will go ahead but any more rain will probably change that and looking at the track, gate and go will be the name of the game tonight.
19:17 - Racing will commence at 19:30, track has been deemed fit to race. No parade as threat of rain still in the air. Lee Smethills isn't riding tonight as his wife is expecting so it's r/r for him.
Thank you to Craneman for his great info and to you for watching. Well done to Newport, and I hope Tim is ok!! Good night!
